ISOL-AID #15
Flat packed and ready to go
Saturday June 27th

A  socially (media) distanced music festival

Feat (in alphabetical order):

AJAK KWAI, AUSECUMA BEATS, DENT MAY (USA), DRUNK MUMS, DYSPORA, ERIN ANNE (USA), FAT TONY (USA), GORDON KOANG, JAE LAFFER, MADELINE KENNEY (USA), MINDY MENG WANG, MUSIC YARED, THE MATTSON 2 (USA) and the QUEENSLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Ever wonder what isolation would’ve been like with an instruction manual? Would it have had you elbow deep in sourdough? Head down/bum up doing Zoom yoga? Puzzles and potting mix and unread books staring at you menacingly? Or in a leopard print onesie catching up on those Kardashians?

Isol-Aid has a step-by-step handbook, so when it comes to Saturday’s entertainment, they will be there to hold your hand and guide you through from an old favourite to your newest discovery. Here are all the instructions you need, assembly possible from the comfort of your own couch:

STEP ONE:
CARPARK RECORDS are a US-based label providing us with the nuts and bolts to get us started. Chances are you’ve had an artist of theirs on your player at some point, so break out coffee and Tim Tams (yep, smoko break already) because this week you will hear and see MADELINE KENNEY, ERIN ANNE, DENT MAY, FAT TONY and THE MATTSON 2 live in your own homes. Not one of them has toured Australia before, so this is your chance to say you’ve seen them live before they even get here.

STEP TWO:
Isol-Aid has already told you about the QUEENSLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA performing this weekend, but keep your spirits level because we want to tell you again. QUEENSLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA are playing Isol-Aid 15!
Have you ever had such a soundtrack for your 3PM, ‘second lunch’ toastie while you pass the phillips head? Well if you haven’t, it’s time to change that. DRUNK MUMS are never one to miss under any circumstances, and then JAE LAFFER ex- The Panics will serenade us with tunes from his album, released TODAY! Will QUEENSLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, DRUNK MUMS and JAE LAFFER ever be on a lineup together again? Likely not. It really is the perfect display of music community solidarity at its finest, and all the more reason to check in.

STEP THREE:
Unlike your usual manual, this one doesn’t end in tears. You haven’t missed a bolt, plug, or separator. Finishing with a flourish, MUSIC IN EXILE is a label and collective aimed at creating space for culturally or linguistically diverse communities in Australia. They have nailed their curation feat: GORDON KOANG, DYSPORA (be sure to clue yourself in with a pre-listen of “Australien”, DYSPORA is one of the freshest new voices in hip hop), MINDY MENG WANG, AUSECUMA BEATS, MUSIC YARED and AJAK KWAI.

We love that our festival is free to watch, but we do ask online attendees to help support the artists if you can. 100% of whatever you donate will go directly to the Isol-Aid artists and their teams.

As you know, the loss of touring and live performance income has caused financial strain and even strife for many in our music community. Throwing in even what you’d normally pay for a beer or two at the show will make a huge difference to these acts. And we’ll be eternally grateful, too!
