20 weeks of ISOL-AID in 2020!

20 weeks of homestyle rockin’ out, lounge-room vibing & gig-going. We can’t believe what a wild ride it’s already been so far and as The Carpenters say, “we’ve only just begun”. The performances and support from the music and gig-going community has been out of this world, we mean truly cosmic! THANK YOU! We are SO excited to do it all again this week with a true all-sorts selection of good sorts.

We took all the sweetest bands and chucked ‘em into this mixed washing basket of a lineup!

Over the last 20 weeks, we have been so privileged to have seen the spectacular artwork that SEBI WHITE has created for our posters. Not only is OUR VERY OWN SEBI reupholstering the art game, this legend is also a talented musician and joins his father Irish-born ANDY WHITE for a really exciting performance to kickstart this week’s ISOL-AID into gear. The father-son rule gets flipped the other way for this performance and we are pumped! After this dreamy duo, First Nations singer/songwriter RACHAEL LIA will be mesmerizing us with her songs that weave a rich tapestry of her past present and future. Moving from Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) to Naarm (Melbourne), Rachael’s pursuit is paying off with the last few years seeing her pick up a stack of awards and accolades for her work. Following Rachael will be Melbourne’s finest purveyor of heartbroken folk-rock JIM LAWRIE. A crafter of an effortless sound and an always captivating performer to watch.

Easing  in with folky start to a pumping afternoon takeover, self described ‘femme-de-la-creme of dehydrated disco’ SCRAPS will keep things moving from Hobart, bringing the island’s analogue realness through your screen. MYSTERY GUEST will step into your virtual reality straight after with their lush pop-production complete with LARP-lyrical explorations of the possibility of love, politics and spirituality under capitalism. After this, founder of Melbourne-based contemporary choir collective ‘If You See Her, Say Hello’, COOKIE BAKER will treat us to her deceivingly gentle melodies and sparkling grit.

With quite an eclectic mix this week, it makes sense that in the mix would be a gem like ALBERT SALT, a multi-instrumentalist and producer who has released a myriad of solo work as well as collaborations with Client Liaison, Boy & Bear, Julia Stone and others. Catchy pop with classical smarts. Calming down the energy a little after this will be moody folk musician BEC SYKES from Melbourne with her otherworldly vocals and songwriting prowess, recently receiving the JOSH PYKE PARTNERSHIP, Bec is off to a big start in the music industry. After that, neo-soul powerhouse NATALIE SLADE puts her fearless pop melodies & buttery tones on show.

For the last portion of the fest, we head across the oceans to visit ROCH in the UK. Roch’s ice-cool guitar sounds, atmospheric vocals and blankets of reverb are cementing this exciting artist as an exceptionally intriguing new artist. Keeping it pip pip cheerio guvna, another UK artist MATILDA MANN will be performing from merry old England. At only 19 years old, Matilda’s influences range from Joni Mitchell to the Juno soundtrack and her modern sound bridges the gap between the old and the new.

We take a slight detour to Spain to visit NÚRIA GRAHAM who’s sound could be crackling through an old speaker of a moody bar in the 60s. Nuria balances retro style lo-fi with forward thinking drum-pads to create a unique flair.

The goodie at the end of the gig-rainbow this week is LIELA MOSS who will be finishing up this week’s edition with her lush chorales and pillowy synths. A dreamy end to a sublime ISOL-AID edition, we can’t wait.

We love that our festival is free to watch, but we do ask online attendees to help support the artists if you can. 100% of whatever you donate will go directly to the Isol-Aid artists and their teams.

As you know, the loss of touring and live performance income has caused financial strain and even strife for many in our music community. Throwing in even what you’d normally pay for a beer or two at the show will make a huge difference to these acts. And we’ll be eternally grateful, too!

You can look good and feel amazing. Artist donations, merch and feel good vibes from isolaidfestival.com (20% off till August 7th with discount code ISOL-AID20)

We can’t wait to hang with you,

Team Isol-Aid x
