Howdy howdy let’s get isolatedly rowdy! We’ve been all over the world on a weekly basis thanks to our lineups but excitingly this week we are hitting up somewhere close to home – Ballarat!
After the goldrush in-deed! THE CITY OF BALLARAT is comin on down to curate a showcase of local artists doing big things. After the hit that Victoria’s live music scene has taken, Ballarat has also felt the brunt of it and the partnership with Isol Aid will be a great opportunity for the wider world to support and connect with local regional artists who may otherwise be overlooked. Needless to say, we are excited to pan for this regional gold online!
Abby Ashmore and Sarah Barclay, who curated the program said: ‘It’s been really exciting to partner with Isol-Aid as it provides a platform to showcase our local artists doing big things. VIctoria’s live music scene has been hit hard this year and Ballarat did not miss that hit. Being able to be part of hosting an online festival brings a sense of normality back to booking lineups. At the same time it also looks into the future of technological possibilities for live music. Teaming with Isol-Aid gives us an opportunity to support our local artists through COVID-19 and play to a wider community they wouldn’t have been able to reach during restrictions. Regional artists are often overlooked and Isol-Aid bridges the gap they would normally face to break into the wider music scene.’
This week’s edition will begin with a very special Welcome To Country from Bonnie Chew of Mirriyu Cultural Consulting.
The first pick of the Ballarat bunch will be local vocalist INKA – a musician with a unique ability to flow on any given beat from soulful jazz chords to dancehall rhythms. INKA’s versatility is something that will catch your ear instantly. THE THING FROM SPRING are up next and they ain’t no summer fling! Autumn never had the same ping, they are The Thing From Spring.
MACY ROSE is a 16 year old singer and songwriter from Ballarat and has already won the USQ Songwriting Prize and begun to build a big name for their talented self. MILLA & GEOFFREY WILLIAMS are an incredible father/daughter duo with Geoffrey’s career seeing him write for artists like Michael Jackson & Dusty Springfield – this will be a special performance. CONNOR TOOMEY is a one man band of brilliance whose mesmerizing presence is strong enough to permeate through the wifi connection, after catching up with his performances from Youtube during isolation, we know this performance will be one to watch. Rounding out the Ballarat bonanza will be SKYSCRAPER STAN WITH MON COUER – parts Laurel Canyon, parts Nick Cave & Sam Cooke – this musician will be bringing the charismatic heat.

The second portion of ISOL AID this week is in celebration of Melbourne musician EL TEE’s debut album ‘Everything Is Fine’. El Tee has lovingly prepared a fantastic lineup in support of the release that will kick off with MAPLE GLIDER – the project of Naarm/Melbourne based singer songwriter Tori Zietsch. A gorgeous voice with thoughtful reflection, what a way to start this lineup! ELSIE LANGE’s jangly, shining sound promises to wash all over you. Elsie performs in a few fantastic bands in Melbourne but her solo sounds are spirited and sweet.
POPPONGENE’s swirling, sunny psychedelic indie pop will continue the El Tee party and after the release of her stunning debut EP ‘Futures Unsure’, we are absolutely PUMPED for this one. GEORGIA KNIGHT’s resonant vocal range can change from ear whisperingly close to frenzied thrash in a matter of moments. Uninhibited and exciting, Georgia’s Lynchian imagery is a well needed respite to the very UN cinematic reality we’re living in.
Genre-pushing HUNTLY have been captivating audiences for a few years now on the dancefloor. For this performance, Huntly will be appearing in a solo capacity – radical pop where the personal and political coexist? Yes please. Capping off a huge lineup, headliner EL TEE’s performance will celebrate the release of her debut album ‘Everything Is Fine’ which is out now through Believe. Sunday sorted, ISOL style.

We love that our festival is free to watch, but we do ask online attendees to help support the artists if you can. 100% of whatever you donate will go directly to the Isol-Aid artists and their teams.
As you know, the loss of touring and live performance income has caused financial strain and even strife for many in our music community. Throwing in even what you’d normally pay for a beer or two at the show will make a huge difference to these acts. And we’ll be eternally grateful, too!
You can look good and feel amazing. Artist donations, merch and feel good vibes from isolaidfestival.com
See you real zoom,
Love, Team Isol-Aid x

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
