To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the viral pop star Rebecca Black’s unforgettable first music offering “Friday” released at age 13, which was certified RIAA Gold earlier this week, the addicting queer artist returns with an iconic new remix featuring an array of electro-poptasm. “I have waited TEN YEARS FOR THIS, REBECCA,” @MTV posted with excitement. “Omfg. I can’t wait to see/awkwardly attempt the inevitable TikTok challenge for this song,” @Cosmopolitan also shared with anticipation on Twitter.

The remix, produced by Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, is buoyed by vocal features from the worldwide ambassador of Bounce music, Big Freedia, who expressed “yasss!” when asked to participate in the track; pop music agitator Dorian Electra, who featured Black on her 2020 release “Edgelord,” and honored her in the lyrics, “[a song that] defined an era, and changed the music industry;” alongside house party favorites 3OH!3. “Friday” remix debuts today with a nostalgic visual ode to the original, featuring all featured artists — WATCH HERE!

“Friday has this accidental campiness that was a part of making it what it was, and through the years, camp has been something I’ve only further tried to embrace.” The video, directed by Weston Allen [100 gecs, 3OH!3, Dorian Electra] adds further campiness: reimagining her status in the 2010s zeitgeist juxtaposed through a hypnotic, futuristic universe which sees Black’s iconic car shot matured into a technicolor drag race between herself and Dorian Electra, with the track’s new Gold plaque in the front passenger seat.

“Rebecca Black is having a major moment, right now,” PAPER writes of her latest release from a forthcoming solo project, a personal single titled-“Girlfriend,” which was accompanied on release with a self-directed music video — WATCH HERE! Billboard named it “bubbly…fun… and… the exact kind of pick-me-up that so many of us are looking for.” Vulture continues, “she’s now serving up queer pop anthems.”

Following in the footsteps of AG Cook and 100 gecs, Rebecca has been tapped by Spotify to takeover their influential Hyperpop playlist.  Click HERE for her curated list of songs including SOPHIE, Charli XCX, and Arca, as well as exclusive playlist video clips from Rebecca.

In 2011, a then 13-year-old Rebecca Black’s song “Friday” was viewed by over 150 million people worldwide and became the fastest-growing viral song and video in 2011, ranking No. 1 on YouTube, Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, and the Google Zeitgeist. Later that year, Rebecca’s viral fame, positive attitude and charismatic personality landed her the surfboard for “Choice Web Star” at the Teen Choice Awards, a sketch performance at the VMA’s, and she completed the late night and daytime TV press circuit in the US.  Black continued her mainstream climb with a cameo in Katy Perry’s music video “Last Friday Night”, while “Friday” went on to be covered by such notables as Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Justin Bieber, and Fox’s popular TV show, Glee. After taking several years away from music to build her online presence and YouTube channel that currently amasses over 1.4 million subscribers, the now 23-year-old singer-songwriter has returned in a big way with the release of new music, including the latest singles “Anyway”, “Sweetheart” & “Closer”. Rebecca has embraced her teenage hit and has never feared speaking about her experiences. Instead, she has become a prominent advocate for anti-bullying and the LGBTQ+ community and has worked alongside organizations like the AdCouncil, GLAAD, and Best Buddies. Now a pop artist and a massive fan of pop music herself, Rebecca Black is pop culture. The decade wrapped up with Black’s name making nearly every notable publication’s look back at the best moments of the past 10 years including Billboard and Rolling Stone solidifying her stamp on pop culture.  Black plans to release a new project in 2021 starting with lead single “Girlfriend.”

“I’d had the idea to do this remix of Friday for years leading up to now but honestly it was also mildly insane for me to think anyone else would want to be a part of it. As I started talking about it with other artists and producers I couldn’t believe how stoked people were about it. I am thrilled to have some of my favorite artists (and people) as a part of this moment – Dylan Brady, Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, 3OH!3.” – Rebecca Black

Big Freedia

Big Freedia

Known as the Queen Diva, Big Freedia is a New Orleans-based hip-hop artist and worldwide ambassador of Bounce music. After releasing a series of noteworthy singles––’Gin In My System’, ‘Excuse’––during the mid 2000’s, Big Freedia’s life was chronicled on the reality show, Big Freedia Bounces Back, on Fuse TV. The docuseries followed the life of a choirboy turned bounce rapper and remains the highest rated original series on the network. In 2015, Big Freedia was featured on Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning single, “Formation” and in 2018, on Drake’s “Nice For What.” She has collaborated with artists like Lizzo and Diplo to Icona Pop and New Kids On The Block. In 2018, Big Freedia released the critically acclaimed album, ‘3rd Ward Bounce’ on Asylum Records in 2018. In the summer of 2019, the Queen of Bounce debuted her limited run flavor ‘Big Freedia’s Bouncin’ Beignets’ with the ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s. She graced the cover of Billboard and Paper Magazines, and served as the official host of the Iive Instagram stream for the 2019 Met Gala. In October 2019, Big Freedia and multi-platinum pop artist Kesha released their new single “Raising Hell.” The song was a pop radio hit and the two performed the hit song on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, Late Night with Stephen Colbert, and the 2019 AMAs. Big Freedia released her second EP “Louder” in March of 2020. She is also the author of the critically acclaimed memoir, Big Freedia: God Save the Queen Diva! on Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster, which will be re-released in paperback on December 1, 2020.

“When they asked me to be on the remix I was like yasss!  ‘Friday’ defined an era and changed the music industry! It was a fun project.” – Big Freedia

Dorian Electra

Dorian Electra

Pop music agitator Dorian Electra makes music that is unbound by genre. Since the 2019 release of their acclaimed debut album Flamboyant, which Interview Magazine called a “pop magnum opus,” Electra has gained an intense cult following around the globe, that has been fueled by considerable critical support from places like Pitchfork, Billboard, Paper Magazine, FADER, Gay Times, The Guardian, and more. Electra, who is known for their high-concept singles, which are each accompanied by a music video conceptualized, produced and directed by Electra and their creative partner Weston Allen, creates a world in which camp is embraced and societal expectations and binaries are deconstructed. On Dorian Electra’s most recent project, My Agenda, they explore a deeper, darker, and even more political realm, with Electra more specifically examining the ‘crisis in masculinity’ through a queer lens. Having collaborated with Charli XCX, 100 gecs, The Village People, Pussy Riot, Rebecca Black and more and having been dubbed an “experimental pop figurehead,” Electra’s music blends together a masterful assortment of genres, including hardcore, metal, medieval, epic baroque, dubstep, and pop and displays why people are calling Electra’s work “the future.”

“…this one goes out to all the h8rs XD peace and <3″ – Dorian Electra

3OH!3

3oh!3

The dynamic duo of Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte have taken 3OH!3 from the foothills of Boulder, CO to a household name – if we’re talking house parties.Since 2008, the American electro-pop duo has rocked sold out venues, amphitheaters, and college campuses around the world, playing shows on every major continent except Antarctica (too cold). With over 15 million singles sold worldwide and three U.S. RIAA Certified platinum songs, 3OH!3 has cemented their sound with global hits like their 3x multi-platinum single “Don’t Trust Me,” which reached #1 at Top 40 Radio and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as hugely popular songs “STARSTRUKKK” (Feat. Katy Perry) and “My First Kiss” (Feat. Kesha) and memorable performances on American Idol, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the MTV Video Music Awards. Over the past decade, Sean and Nat have pivoted to more behind the scenes work, having written and produced hits for other artists such as Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody,” Steve Aoki’s “Waste It on Me” (Feat. BTS), MAX’s “Lights Down Low,” Ariana Grande’s “Tattooed Heart,” and Kesha’s “Blah Blah Blah” among many others. They continued to play in front of thousands of fans while celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their RIAA certified Gold album WANT. Eventually, the itch of wanting to get back in the studio to make music that was fun, inclusive, edgy, weird and – most importantly – their own, proved to be an inevitable reality. And what better, weirder, unpredictable year to do that than 2020? Sean and Nat took a week together in their hometown of Boulder early in the year to pen and record new music just before quarantine. Now, 3OH!3 is back with Photo Finish Records, where it all started – and they’re coming harder than ever. Their new single “LONELY MACHINES” (feat 100 gecs) is the first taste of much more music to come.

“It’s 10 years later now, it’s 3OH!3 on Friday. Sick of living through these Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays. But then Thursday comes along and we are sayin ‘Friday here comes fuckin Friday” – 3OH!3
