to get lost in
MARDI WILSON’s
new album

Multitalented instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Mardi Wilson is telling the world to Get Lost with the recent release of her debut album on May 3rd. The record follows from her latest single “Salty” which gave a preview of the sort of nostalgic surf folk to anticipate from the rest of the album. As always, Mardi has proven that she is a master storyteller with a unique authenticity on Get Lost – channeling both her roaming lifestyle and the occasional need to tell others to shove it.
The stunning album was recorded at Blind Boy Studios in Nerang by Brad Hosking. The overall sound is a chilled folk reflective of the oceanside lifestyle that Mardi finds herself living in. Her influences of Kim Churchill, Dodie, The Pierce Brothers, Paul Kelly and Jack Johnson can be heard throughout the thirteen tracks.

Mardi says finally releasing her debut record feels surreal. “This album has been in the making for two years and I have loved every minute of the process. It’s been a lot of hard work, recording, re-recording, throwing out almost finished songs and starting from scratch. That probably sounds like a crazy thing to do but I feel like sometimes you have to do crazy stuff. All of these decisions made the album what it is and I’m so glad that I took the time to make sure my first album was something I’d always be proud of. To be here now is an awesome feeling, I’m about to share a huge piece of myself with the world and I’m just so excited.”
Mardi’s recent tracks “Runaway”, “Don’t Stop”, “Astronaut”, “Part Time Lover”, “Nice Ones” and “Salty” are just a taste of what this album has in store. Already in 2021 she’s been a Queensland Music Awards’ Blues & Roots category finalist and was added to the Folk and Singer-Songwriter Highly Commended list. Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel was also lucky enough to see her compete as a semi-finalist in the Bluesfest Busking Competition in March. In the past, she’s played support shows for artists like Daniel Shaw, Richard Clapton, Psuedo Echo, Diesel, Chocolate Starfish and Nick Cunningham. The prolific performer is now bringing her talents and experiences together with her debut album.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
