After a run of infectious singles released over the past 12 months, today Ivey are announcing their new EP love + miscellanea out October 23 via Mirror Records. The band are also extremely thrilled to be announcing a run of headline shows across South East Queensland including Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and their hometown of the Gold Coast.

The ‘love + miscellanea’ EP, which was produced by Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I / Mallrat) is stacked with previous singles ‘Talk Talk’, ‘Scream’, ‘Midnight’, ‘Bodies’ and ‘Valentine’, two remixes, an acoustic version of  #1 streaming track ‘Bodies’, and a brand new single ‘I Hate U’, also set for release on Oct 23.

Talking about the themes running through the EP guitarist Lachlan McGuffie says “’love + miscellanea’ explores the stages of a romantic relationship. Each song came from a different place in time and from our separate experiences. Once we aligned the songs, we realised that our individual stories were actually piecing together a timeline in which a single relationship begins, flourishes and eventually falls apart.”

The EP announce will no doubt come as very welcome news to fans after a year of successful single releases. Recent single ‘Midnight’ gained a spot add to Triple J as well as being added to Spotify playlists New Music Friday AU, Front Left, Get Popped, Indie Arrivals and more, whilst their previous single ‘Scream’ was heard spinning on high rotation nationwide with Triple J.

After selling out their own shows across the country, and touring with Lime Cordiale, Ivey have stacked up over 3.5 million streams on Spotify across their catalogue of indie-pop anthems.

In addition, the quintet were nominated for the Gold Coast Music Awards for Live Act Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Breakout Artist Of The Year. This follows the band’s recent Queensland Music Awards nomination in the Pop category.

About IVEY

The very first roots of Ivey can be traced back to brothers Lachlan (Guitar / Vocals) and Matt McGuffie (Drums) learning to play guitar and drums alongside their next-door neighbour Dante Martin (Bass) in 2006. The teenaged trio found their platform by performing at events like their parents’ parties. In fact, it was in 2012 at yet another family gathering that Millie Perks (Vocals) was asked by her encouraging, albeit tipsy relatives to play guitar and sing alongside them at midnight. Afterwards, Lachie hesitantly asked Millie, who was only 12 at the time, if she would like to join the then-trio to sing for the band.

The group found themselves writing their very first original tracks and sharing their first song in 2014, with all members still in high school and under the age of 18. From here, the band hustled their way through adolescence and the music industry, playing shows, navigating their personal lives and attending school.

Still in their formative years, and off the back of strong single releases, Ivey found themselves supporting acts like Middle Kids, Ruby Fields, Confidence Man, Ocean Alley and Tiny Little Houses, all while the love from triple j and triple j Unearthed continued to grow.

Ivey’s sophomore EP, ‘Gorgeous’, was recorded with renowned producer Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, The Jungle Giants, Tia Gostelow). The EP’s second single, ‘Won’t Be’ was picked up by iconic French Label Kitsuné, which saw the release charting in iTunes Charts all over the world, including Australia, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Thailand and France.

Ivey have had a whirlwind last six months, performing to a capacity crowd at Byron Bay Falls Festival’s Jack Daniels Barrel House Stage, winning the Triple J Unearthed slot for The Drop festival in Coolangatta, scoring a spot as Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist, and having their recent singles ‘Scream’ and ‘Midnight’ added to rotation on Triple J.

Ivey showcase a collaborative song writing approach, often lyrically delving into themes of love, sex and the mind. Crediting one of their major influences as the dreaming contrast of the Gold Coast, where they continue to rehearse, record and write music, the Ivey journey has been an eventful one so far, and promises to continue on that trend with new music out this year.
