Byron Bay singer-songwriter Jack Botts has today announced his long-awaited debut album Sucker For Sunsets will be released independently via Community Music on March 31. Led by new single ‘All Day’, the news comes paired with an Australian headline tour kicking off next month, seeing Jack play his biggest capital city shows to date.

Stream ‘All Day’ here. Pre-order the album here. Tickets on sale 9am AEDT Thursday 9 February from jackbotts.com.

A delicate combination of sun-drenched pop and deep personal reflection makes Sucker For Sunsets a considered and compelling piece of work. Stringing together the warm embrace of Jack’s familial acoustic goodness, the stirring introduction of new writing styles into the mix and his most grippingly personal lyrics to date – Jack Botts has reached a profound new level of personal and musical maturity on this stunning debut full-length.

Taking listeners on a journey through his own personal musical exploration, Jack’s much-loved surf-pop style is cleverly mixed with licks of blues on ‘Mine, Mine, Mine’, the straight up ballad ‘Paradise’ and country twangs such as on lead single ‘All Day’.

“There are some styles I had just never given a shot before, like country,” laughs Jack. “I wondered ‘it’s one of the biggest genres in the world, but why is it so big?’ So I really dove in and started to appreciate why people relate to it. It became a personal challenge for me then… if I wanted to keep writing the same songs, I guess I could, but there’s no growth in that. I want to keep growing and surprising myself and others.”

With bittersweet stories and painful moments of self-reflection peppered in between songs of summer days and loved ones; it’s this straddling between the easy-going and the difficult elements of life that makes Sucker For Sunsets as poignant and relatable as it is.

“I wouldn’t say it’s happy, I wouldn’t say it’s sad… I’d say it’s conversational,” Jack rhapsodises of the record. “It’s about all those conversations I’ve had with myself, realisations I’ve accepted over the last two years working through the highs and lows of international long-distance, touring and understanding myself more in the process.”

Jack Botts will kick off his support run on Vance Joy’s North American tour tomorrow night, before launching into his own 6-date album tour. His Australian tour is a culmination of a few tireless years on the road, where Jack found his audience in pubs, bars and bowlos and organically continued building and growing with strings of back-to-back shows up and down the Australian coastline. Kicking off on March 31 in Adelaide to coincide with the album’s release, Jack will make stops in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney before rounding out the tour in Melbourne at 170 Russell for some of his biggest headline shows to date.

Brisbane raised and currently Northern Rivers based, Jack Botts has quickly made the transition from busking the streets to a full-time touring musician, selling out rooms around the country.. His easy-listening style is a breath of fresh air and has won over audiences as a support act for the likes of Tash Sultana, Ocean Alley and Boy & Bear, also while gracing festival stages such as Land of Plenty, Big Pineapple and NYE On The Hill. Jack’s fervent following has exploded over the past four years; his chilled catalogue of surf-folk across the Summer Nights (2018) and Northern Rivers (2019) EPs connecting with fans in over 150 countries to exceed 80 million streams and a monthly Spotify listenership over 388k.
