Keeping up a momentum in 2019, Jack R. Reilly has delivered a stunning second single for the year – ‘I Don’t Like To See Us Like This’. Melancholy and meditative, you can see Jack perform in Melbourne and Sydney this October.
‘I Don’t Like To See Us Like This’ is a beautifully pensive track, raw honesty delivered with a warm and rather therapeutic melody. Lyrically, it embraces and gives voice to that moment in a relationship where both parties know that it is time to walk away.
“It’s about becoming aware of when to call something quits,” says Jack about the track; “I wanted to contrast the feeling of deep sadness at something ending with the joy, the freedom and the curiosity of the new and what’s coming.”
The track premiered exclusively on Pilerats on Friday.
This new single follows the release of ‘Who Can Say?’ in August this year, which received high praise from community radio stations and the triple j Unearthed community. ‘Who Can Say’ has been described as having “drive, purpose, darkness and grit to it” by triple j’s Declan Byrne, and thus ‘I Don’t Like To See Us Like This’ is the natural next step in a process of acceptance, healing and starting anew.
Jack and his band have just finished an east coast tour with their friends Amends, but never fear – you have another chance to catch them live in Sydney and Melbourne this October.

Raised in Kiama, NSW, before making the pilgrimage to Sydney, Jack R. Reilly has been a fixture of the Sydney and south coast music scene for years, bringing gut wrenching and heart warming songwriting to many a dimly lit corner. The strength and consistency of his work has earned him the prized support slots of some huge international headline shows, including Gavin DeGraw (USA), Andrew McMahon (Something Corporate/Jack’s Mannequin, USA), Into It. Over It. (USA) and Tiny Ruins (NZ). Jack has also found himself in good company locally, playing alongside praised Aus acts including Rat!Hammock, Bec Sandridge and Slowly Slowly, and on the revered Yours and Owls Festival line-up. 2018 saw Jack release his EP Pursuing Balance with very positive reception, earning triple j spins and drawing crowds to both his local and interstate shows.
With rich and varied musical influences ranging from The National to Fugazi, Earl Sweatshirt to Elliot Smith, Jack is not shy about embracing dialectics in music and life experience in his songwriting.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
