Today, Bristol-based psych duo Jadu Heart share ‘Burning Hour’, the final taste of their highly anticipated second album, Hyper Romance, out September 25th. The track follows on from a string of singles including; ‘Dead Again’, ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Caroline’, which received support and praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Line Of Best Fit, Consequence Of Sound and Notion.

‘Burning Hour’ focuses on the more painful part of being in love. ‘We all perform rituals to keep our hearts above water, Burning Hour is about embracing that to the point of no return, where you might find yourself drowning’  the duo explain. ‘The whole album documents the deepest, darkest and hardest moments of relationships, this track comes near the end of the album where I would say the album is at its most intense and the end of ‘Burning Hour’ is the peak of that intensity. I think the lyrics reflect that as well, it’s not as playful as most of the other tracks, kinda like a real relationship, sometimes it reaches intense boiling points and it can feel like you’re being burned at the stake’.

Hyper Romance is largely a collection of love songs written during a period of relocation and reflection. After moving to Bristol following the release of their debut album, Jadu Heart (aka Alex Headford and Diva Jeffrey) found themselves moving away from the electronic-leaning music they were once known for, towards a more raw psych-rock sound created in a basement filled with cheap-distortion pedals and amps.

Both born to artistic families, Headford and Jeffrey were naturally drawn to music from a young age. Gathering acclaim for their unique combination of visual arts and songwriting prowess, Jadu Heart’s early releases were co-signed by publications like i-D, Wonderland and Mura Masa. Originally based in a North London guardianship, the pair relocated to Bristol after falling in love with the city late last year. Having since abandoned their fictional personas from their ‘Melt Away’ era, Jadu Heart are confronting 2020 head-on.
