Praise for JESS LOCKE
“Australia has a flood of amazing rock artists in the wings posted to break through on an international level – a la Courtney Barnett or Gang of Youths. Melbourne artist Jess Locke has pushed her way to the forefront of this talented pack.” – The Guardian (Nathan Jolly)
“Jess Locke has again shown why she’s one of the country’s most exciting emerging indie rock stars.” – Double J (Dan Condon)
“…a songwriter capable of balancing introspective reflection with pop-skewed accessibility” – Rolling Stone
“This is a record that possesses great depth and humanity… Effortlessly oscillating between high energy and quiet contemplation, Locke’s lyrics are the centrepiece of the record as she gives voice to her existentialist dread and complexities with remarkable insight… – STACK (Holly Pereira)

Following singles ‘Fool’, ‘Destroy Everything’, ‘Dead and Gone’ and ‘Halo’, Melbourne singer-songwriter Jess Locke today releases her third album Don’t Ask Yourself Why, out on Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control Records. The album traverses themes of human behaviour, our egos and self-reflection and was recorded with bandmates James Morris and Chris Rawsthorne, and produced by Rob Muiños (Saskwatch, Julia Jacklin) in a tiny studio in the back of a guitar shop in Collingwood, before it was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis in the UK (Lana Del Ray, The Killers, Gorillaz).
Locke has also shared a new video clip for track ‘Little Bit Evil’, as premiered by Happy Mag. A song about how no one is all good or all bad. We all do good things and bad things and our flaws are what make us human. The dirtiness of the track reflects this notion and is a celebration of the idea. On shooting the clip with Nick Manuell, Locke said “This was a really fun video to make! Especially after being locked down for so long, it was really fun to get together with Nick and a bunch of our friends and dress up and get very silly. The craftiness of the skeleton costumes was a little bit inspired by Michel Gondry who we love and are always trying to rip off in some way.”
Today, Locke also announces a generous handful of tour dates for Melbourne, Sydney and regional Victoria from April to June. Tickets are on sale now and supports are yet to be announced.

AMNPLIFY – TN
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
