“Joe Mungovan continues his reputation as a fine purveyor of summer vibes…” ROLLING STONE AUSTRALIA
“…groove-infused, it’s cathartic, it’s laidback, it’s sun soaked, I can listen to it any day of the week.” TRIPLE J, ASH McGREGOR
“Super casual vibe that feels ready-made for summer hangs.” TRIPLE J UNEARTHED, DAVE RUBY HOWE
“A collection of songs that elevate the earnest, introspective songwriting that threads Mungovan’s earlier work, with tons of warmth and infectious indie-pop sensibilities throughout.” MUSIC FEEDS
“Over the last few years, the musician has come forward as one of Australia’s most talented and remarkable…” PILERATS
“His warm, lilting vocals, coupled with catchy guitar riffs transport you to somewhere warm and tropical. The layered guitars are extremely effective, and it has a recurring bass guitar line that keeps the party going from beginning to end.” THE AU REVIEW

Joe Mungovan is wasting no time in getting his 2024 off and running with exciting news. The dynamic multi-instrumentalist and performer has become one of the East Coast’s favourite touring artists, spreading the love and good music off the back of his stunning debut album A Flower In The Weeds in 2021 and in 2023, his vibrant track ‘STAY’.
And with a new year, comes a new chapter – for Mungovan, this means a new album. Titled ‘SUGAR, CANDY, LIPS’, the second studio effort from Mungovan represents a culmination of new inspiration and influences that have filtered into his process; manifesting in a set of beautifully recorded tracks out of his home studio on NSW’s South Coast, as well as The Grove Studios.
Leading this next phase, Mungovan has given fans a taste of the new album with the release of his latest single, ‘Cyclone’. The song, as Mungovan describes, is about “mass consumption, overstimulation and our society’s blindness and addiction to it”. Very real content that people can likely relate to, arranged and executed through a musical lens that instead will provide a vibe for any listener, ‘Cyclone’ is the product of a smart knack for songwriting that has met refreshed artistic confidence.
“It’s about being overfed in all aspects of life – mentally, emotionally, physically, and literally – and how disconnected our lives have become as a result. In a way, Cyclone is my resistance to the ‘ignorance is bliss’ attitude that is so entrenched in our society and my attempt to reconnect with something simpler.” JOE MUNGOVAN

The release of ‘Cyclone’ is an exciting jump off point for Mungovan as he prepares for his return to stages in a few months’ time. Along with the release of ‘Cyclone’ and then SUGAR, CANDY, LIPS on Friday 15th March, Mungovan has also announced the tour dates to support the record, dates which will have him on the road along the East Coast this April!
Having cut his teeth on stages alongside names including Gang of Youths, Paul Dempsey, Lime Cordiale, The VANNS and Maddy Jane, Mungovan has earned fans across a diverse demographic and has consistently grown this base of music lovers following his journey, nationwide.
Beloved performances at festivals including Queenscliff Music Festival, VIVID Sydney, Caloundra Music Festival, Nannup Music Festival; as well as numerous headline shows around the country that have left fans wanting more, have reinforced Mungovan’s love for connecting with audiences, no matter their background or origin. The music is the binder, he is the messenger – SUGAR, CANDY, LIPS is set to remind fans, new and old alike, of this importance.
“We knew (the band and I) that we couldn’t wait to get these songs in front of a crowd as soon as we were recording them – they’ve got big, electric energy that screams for a live audience to get amongst it and have a boogie. We’re stoked to return to some old haunts on this East Coast line up, and play some new venues too. The boys in the band absolutely kill it and while this is our most ambitious headline tour yet, and we are itching to get on the road and bring the show to a city near you.” JOE MUNGOVAN

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
