‘Racecar’ is a journey…It feels like a song in conversation with the inner child, reminding us that life is full of phases, multiple beginnings and endings at any age.” – Stereogum

“Has more than enough to separate herself from her unfortunate near-namesake” – FADER

“She’s jubilant and loose, but ‘Racecar,’ antithetical to its flighty premise, feels grounded.” – Nina Protocol

LA-based songwriter and producer Jordan Patterson will release her album The Hermit. The album arrives not as a debut, but as a culmination—a spiritual successor to earlier works which first showcased Patterson’s diaristic lyricism and lo-fi inventiveness. This project marks a deepening: in craft, in vision, and in self-trust. It’s the sound of an artist learning not just how to write songs, but how to carry her own light—quietly, steadily, and with profound grace. Entirely self-written and co-produced alongside JEHU and Eric Van Thyne, the project has already found support from Spotify (‘Fresh Finds,’ ‘Lorem,’ ‘Editors’ Picks: Best Songs of August’ + more), Stereogum, FADER, NME, One’s To Watch (Live Nation), and many more.

As a final taste of the project, today Patterson shared focus trackHey Mama.” A radiant exploration of growing up and out, the song exists in a state of contrast between the sunny styling and the sorrowful lyrics. The track presents a more folk-minded sound from Patterson, as the whimsy vocals she’s known for perfectly meet the fiddle-forward mix. Of “Hey Mama,” Patterson explains “My mom and I have been through thick and thicker together. In my darkest moment, the thought of her reminds me that grace dreams, in its purest form, are worth desiring and already exist in my own life. My grandma Hazel gave my mom, and then my mom gave me the single most important thing: love.”

North Carolina-born and LA-raised, Jordan Patterson creates catharsis from an alternative landscape. Blunt, raw, and decisive, Patterson is crafting a world through her music by inviting listeners to absorb the depth of her humanity and imagination. She attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a theater major but was exposed to new forms of artistry that expanded the scope of her creativity. In 2020, she moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts but moved back to LA in 2021 to pursue music full-time. She now finds herself back in the Valley, writing and performing across the city regularly at venues like El Cid, Genghis Cohen, Permanent Record Roadhouse, and more. She has also recorded with musicians cross-nationally, working with producers from LA, New York, Atlanta, and London.

2025 has been an exciting year for the young artist & songwriter. She recently opened for the buzzy Australian starlets, Folk Bitch Trio, playing for a sold-out crowd at Permanent Records Roadhouse in Los Angeles. Her last single, “God,” earned her attention from Rolling Stone, Stereogum, The Fader, and a shoutout in Spotify’s “Lorem and Friends” newsletter being touted as one of the 10 songs editors could not stop listening to. Earlier releases in the year have earned her attention from Nina Protocol, The Line of Best Fit, KXSC, and KCRW. This past February, Jordan found herself tagged by Geesefrontman, Cameron Winter for an opening set at his sold-out show in LA at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre which earned her a standing ovation from the stunned crowd. When reflecting on the performance, Jordan notes “It was so invigorating because it was my first show in a new environment where no one knew who I was. It was liberating and I felt like I could just paint however I wanted. Also, Cameron is a sweetheart.”

At its core, Jordan’s music parallels her individual experience and the relationships that ignite her. Jordan is eternally dedicated to being an unadulterated novice, creating music that reflects her role as an artist who is perpetually “in progress.”
