You don’t need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotion behind ‘Gummy Bamarra’ as Jungaji opens his heart and takes us on an epic journey with this deeply personal song.  Turning pain into art, Jungaji channels the words of love that his late son would say to his children if he was still on this earth.

A dedication to his grandkids and the profound impact they have had on his life, Jungaji said “They unfortunately lost their father three years ago, but I know intimately that he guides them and navigates the road for them in the spiritual realm. Throughout life, as much as their father is no longer here & in the physical realm, there’s comfort in understanding that he walks with & hears them, all they have to do is call out to him.”

“Gummy means Grandson, Bamarra means Story: This song comes from a perspective of what my gummy’s late father – wawu Duke Brady – would say as he is navigating the road from a spiritual perspective for his sons as they grow into their adolescence and into young men.”

‘Gummy Bamarra’ begins with a haunting acoustic guitar melody underpinning Jungaji’s heartfelt vocals, being joined by layers of harmonies and instruments along the way building to an emotional crescendo. The magic of this moving ballad has been beautifully captured by producer Cody McWaters (King Stingray, The Chats, Selfish Sons, Osaka Punch, Rewiggled), recorded at Hunting Ground Studios in Brisbane.

With this stunning tribute born from a place of tragic loss, Jungaji has created an exquisite legacy for his gummys with ‘Gummy Bamarra’.
