Held in the sprawling, uninhibited rainforest of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Jungle Love Festival will celebrate its fifth year with a grander site and 3-day program more inclusive, free-spirited and conscious than ever with a stellar line-up of local, Australian and international acts, thoughtfully curated culture and workshops, astounding visual and performance art, holistic pastimes and progressive food and beverage options.
With the festival’s trademark boiling pot of the industry’s most exciting up-and-comers mixed with crowd favourites and a smattering of international imports to keep it fresh, Jungle Love Festival’s program is all about enjoying local gems and experiencing incredible performances and themed musicians.
More than half of the program features artists native to Queensland including Gabriella Cohen, Omegachild, First Beige, Nonsemble, L. Flora and FeelsClub to name a few. Other Aussie acts include headliners Perth psychedelic outfit POND, Melbourne rockers Approachable Members of Your Local Community and Sydney’s brightest female punk force RACKETT.
Jungle Love Festival 2018 will also host four international artists; dance headliner and innovative Kiwi glitch-hop producer OPIUO, Japanese ‘loop ninja’ Kenta Hayashi, UK dub and remix king Mad Professor and the Australian debut of British neo-soul songstress China Bowls.
And if the line-up wasn’t impressive enough, Festival Co-Director Raymond Williams says audiences are in for an absolute treat with his program highlight Jungle Love Allstars: Live Tribute to Justice. Inspired by the legendary French electronic duo, the tribute performance will feature a 12-piece band hand-picked from some of Brisbane’s finest musicians from groups such as Big Dead, LeSuits, beneb, Inigo, HRBRT, Andy Ward as well as the string quartet from Nonsemble.
“It’s going to be truly epic and will feature tracks from all three of the French duo’s albums – ‘Cross’, ‘Audio, Video, Disco’ and ‘Woman’,” said Williams.
Fully immersive, Jungle Love Festival is all about getting more out of your festival experience. Whether that be waking up to sunrise yoga, floating down the creek enjoying a midday beer, or discovering a band you’ve never heard before as the sun sets on a balmy Queensland evening; the 3-day, BYO festival is an ode to new discoveries and experiences.
In addition to the festival’s impressive music line, Jungle Lovers will be able to take part in workshops, watch cross-discipline performance pieces, live visual art activations, and take part in the likes of Laughing Yoga and Water Aerobics.
Jungle Love Festival is also proudly committed to being entirely environmentally conscious, vowing to step it up a notch in 2018 with their sustainability partner 5 Mile Radius – a bespoke group that specialise in architecture and design made and sourced with materials from within a five mile radius of each site.
And the Festival’s results speak for themselves; in 2017 the festival diverted nearly all aluminum cans from landfill and managed to reduce the number of cars travelling to the event by 15.6% by incentivising public transport and carpooling – a figure they plan to increase this year. 2
Centered around this year’s theme of Trash to Treasure, Jungle Love also invites revelers to reuse and borrow everything they intend to bring to the new festival site to reduce landfill contributions. Festival organisers are challenging all Jungle Lovers to not buy anything new when preparing and packing for the 2018 festival; whether it be an eye-catching outfit or a tent fit for the whole crew, all can be borrowed or bought second hand.
Limited Second Release Tickets are on sale from Thursday 9 August through the Festival’s website, with options to bring your own tent or hire one onsite. Jungle Lovers are also encouraged to purchase transport tickets to reduce congestion arriving and leaving the festival. For the full first line-up, more information and tickets go HERE.
The Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland, is proud to support Jungle Love Festival which features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar. Your perfect next event is in Queensland where live events combine with the most incredible destinations, and life is beautiful one day, perfect the next.
