Rising from the grave in the warm light of dawn, Katie Reid is back with her newest moody indie single ‘6 Feet Under’, out today.
This Sydney-based indie singer is a hidden wonder and a master of her craft, and her talents shine through in this charming soft rock daydream. Katie Reid got her start in music by providing backing vocals for legends like Guy Sebastian, Christine Anu and Perth rapper Drapht, and since then, she’s woven strong ties with other Australian bands, performing on the tours of Joan & the Giants and Little Quirks. She also caught eyes in the ‘The Great Southern Song Competition’ for her song ‘Healing’, earning herself first place.

Her latest single ‘6 Feet Under’ is a hauntingly beautiful piece of indie rock. Its ghostly, hallowed beginning melts into something more hopeful and uplifting, with soft indie guitar and catchy drumbeats. Katie’s voice strikes a balance between sweet and dreamy, and strong and mournful as it moves through the stages of grief, the highs and lows of the post-breakup haze.
This song was created during and after a tumultuous breakup, with the aim of being able to create something hopeful and uplifting from the wreckage. The weight of her pain underpins the song, giving it an addictive bittersweet aftertaste mixed in with its sweet indie-rock vibes. Katie Reid shares the story behind the song as, “This person throughout the relationship didn’t treat me with compassion or kindness, therefore I held on to a lot of shame for loving them. I began writing the verses in the last few weeks of our relationship, trying to make sense of my conflicted feelings. It felt as though they exited the relationship unscathed and that really irked me as I was in a lot of pain. I created this song to try and rid myself of the anger and shame I was feeling.”
In ‘6 Feet Under’, out now, Katie Reid dances through the emotional minefield of a relationship’s end.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
