About “FORFEIT”
“ [Forfeit] is really emotional, I don’t believe I was thinking about it musically at all but just expressing how I was feeling at that current time – which was… not great (to say the least).I actually often thought about changing the lyrical content between then and now. I feared it might be too heavy.
But every time I almost changed it, I decided to leave it because I didn’t want to hide those very real and intense emotions just because they were scary.
If I changed them I feel like I might have cheated myself and anyone else who has been in that headspace. I don’t think it should be censored.”
– Keeskea

Keeskea (case-kay-ah) is the “lofty and delicate, yet fiercely present and potent” (Laundry Echo) project of Brisbane solo artist Vanessa Marousopoulos who’s shared stages with Stella Donnelly, Jen Cloher, Jen Buxton, and more.
Recently announced as the latest addition to the Hobbledehoy family and as support to labelmates Arrows in late November, Keeskea’s vulnerable, weighty new single ‘Forfeit’ is out now, to be launched locally at a very special event featuring support from Kellie Lloyd (Screamfeeder) & Jack Thomas on December 8.

Hosted in the beautiful Hands on Art and Substation Gallery run by Communify Queensland, the evening will also showcase Brisbane local artist works by Ellie Doolan (watercolour paintings) and Seamus Platt (photographic works).
Drinks will be provided by Young Henrys, along with homemade food (vegan and gluten free) in exchange for a gold coin donation, with art and merchandise available to purchase.
With a unique gift for making sense of what’s tangled, Marousopoulos unwinds sensitive, long-dormant emotions to their threadbare state with her vintage Harmony Alden H45 Stratotone and whisper-close vocals, couching them in gentle electronic production, but leaving more than enough space for reflection and reconnection. The idiosyncratic, spacious beauty of her work has earnt her recognition with Majestic Casual, The Wild Honey Pie (US), triple j, and triple j Unearthed who featured her debut single ‘You Did’ in their podcast earlier this year.
Following an on-air premiere with FBi Radio’s Mornings with Eddy Diamond, Keeskea’s anticipated follow-up single ‘Forfeit’ is a highly personal and candid reflection from a dark emotional state, defined by a tremendous, roaring sparsity offset by Marousopoulos’s heavenly vocal waft.
Perfectly accented by reflective visuals set in a nostalgic environment that premiered on Casual Band Blogger, Forfeit’s melancholia is so raw that Marousopoulos wrestled with whether it should be released:

Recently announced as support for Arrows at The Old Bar in so-called Melbourne on Nov 29, Marousopoulos is joined live by classically trained violinist Olivia Bolin, who provides delicate accents in an intuitive, organic interpretation of Keeskea’s recorded work. Already building a revered reputation for these disarmingly unguarded performances, Keeskea has shared stages with Stella Donnelly, Jen Cloher, Jen Buxton, Pool Shop, Jess Locke, Jarrow, Seagull, Chakra Efendi, and performed at events Against The Grain Festival and Quiet Carriage Touring’s evening of art & poetry ‘Embraced In Thought’.
Stunned by her music’s idiosyncratic beauty, artist-centric indie label Hobbledehoy Record Co are thrilled to welcome Keeskea to their tight-knit family, which also includes Arrows, Deafcult, Sop hie Hutchings, Bec Stevens and more.
.
“Hobbledehoy has always kept a close-knit roster; so when a new artist joins it is a big deal for us. Sometimes an artist comes along that causes us to step back and rethink everything. Vanessa Marousopoulos (Keeskea) is one of those artists.
“When music affects deeply, perhaps triggering something at a subconscious level, it can be foolish trying to rationalise choices. Gut feelings are there for a reason. What’s next? We cannot wait.” – Tom Majerczak, Founder, Hobbledehoy Record Co

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
