Still fired up from their epic AFL ‘Dreamtime at the G’ performance over the weekend, King Stingray have just released a barking mad new video for their current single ‘Camp Dog’, starring Bluey’s cheeky cousins from up north.

The track has already had a rip roaring workout, clocking a full sweep of ABC additions (unearthed, triple j, double j and ABC Local), countless community radio additions and over 300k combined streams, but finally a visual feast serves to thoroughly explain the story behind the beloved camp dogs of Arnhem Land.

The animation is the stuff of your lo-fi Agro’s Cartoon Connection dreams, introducing a pack of mischievous mutts, tormenting the band as they get up to all kinds of Looney Tunes era antics; stealing bikes, pinching food, chewing on tyres, and even racking up speeding fines!

Every maniacal moment in the video was legitimately inspired by true experiences of the band members, who remain steadfastly fond of the flea-ridden, cane toad-lickin’ community dogs despite their personal torment.

Camp Dog follows on from bona fide hits Milkumana and Get Me Out which both made their way into triple j’s Hottest 100 at number 56 and 46 respectively.

Maintaining their mammoth momentum, King Sting will join several dates on the massive Ball Park Music tour throughout June and July before hitting up Splendour In The Grass, and all of your favourite summer festivals.

About KING STINGRAY:

King Stingray is a story of lifelong friendship and two cultures coming together. Growing up together in Yirrkala in North-East Arnhem Land, founding members Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu (frontman) and Roy Kellaway (guitar) have been playing and making music together for as long as they can remember.

Yirrŋa and Roy formed King Stingray with mates Dimathaya Burarrwanga(rhythm guitar backing vocals and yidaki), Campbell Messer (bass) and Lewis Stiles (drums). The band seamlessly blend ancient indigenous melodies with surf, indie and funk influences to create a unique sound of their own: Yolŋu surf-rock.

Propelled by the instant success of their debut track “Hey Wanhaka” in October 2020, accidental lockdown anthem “Get Me Out”, and groove-laden dance jam “Milkumana”, the band have soared to unexpected heights.

Hailed as “one of the most exciting acts in the country today” (NME), the band have taken out triple j’s ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’ J Award for 2021, as well as NME Australia’s ‘Best New Act From Australia’ Award and Rolling Stone Australia’s ‘Best New Artist’.
