Overnight, New Zealand native pop artist, Theia has shared the video for her new single “Candy.” The track highlights an unapologetic and carefree celebration of individuality; a blast of pure energy that sees the Kiwi alt-pop artist breaking new ground.
“Candy” is about that moment when you stop caring what others think of you. It’s about letting go and forging your own path; not following others, and the power and the freedom that comes from just being yourself.” – Theia
Pulsating with bass throughout; a melody that seamlessly swings from grit to gloss; and packed with piercing one-liners, Theia once again reveals herself to be a songwriter who is unafraid to push boundaries. “Candy” sees Theia return for the first time in two years to Golden Age Studio in Auckland (where Lorde made Pure Heroine) with pop producing extraordinaire Josh Fountain, who co-wrote and produced much of Theia’s 2017 debut EP, including her smash hit “Roam”.
.
Theia emerged in 2015, catching the attention of US tastemaker blogs HillyDilly and Pigeons And Planes with her song “Silver Second”. Her distinctive vocals and exquisite harmonies paired with dreamy, ethereal glitter-pop and sultry R’n’B, made a mark and left audiences around the world wanting more. She didn’t fail to deliver, following up with “Roam”, which went on to become one of the most successful songs released by a Kiwi artist in 2016.
“Candy” is available now on all digital platforms!

AMNPLIFY – BA
I am an avid music fan who loves finding new artists in my downtime. My love for music stemmed from a young age and spans most genres. I have travelled across the country as well as overseas to see some of my favourite artists. I have been involved in the music industry since 2011 volunteering and working on some amazing shows and festivals and wouldn’t have it any other way!
Aside from music, I am also a sports enthusiast. If I’m not surrounded by music, you can catch me watching and cheering for my favourite teams, most importantly, the Dees. I also love coffee, bad jokes and travelling.
