ADOY
7:30pm

Seoul based synth-based indie pop band ADOY, are known for creating city-pop, 80’s romantic pop, typical indie rock, and dream pop sounds, taking listeners on a journey through feelings of summer, the ocean, the waves, surfing, small talk, youth: the small things that make you smile.

Since their debut 2017 EP ‘CATNIP’ garnered attention in the Korean indie scene, topping the Korean indie sales chart multiple times and receiving nominations at the Korean Music Awards, ADOY has been diligent in music production and live performance. They started out touring local hometown pubs and clubs, then quickly became one of the most popular acts for Korea’s biggest rock festivals. Having recently completed headline tours in Asia and the U.S. the four piece have their eyes set on Europe and Australia next.

Do not miss your chance to catch Juhwan Oh (vocals/guitar), Zee (synths/vocals), Dayoung Jeong (bass/vocals), and Geunchang Park (drums) rising chameleons, when ADOY perform songs from their expansive city-pop, 80’s romantic pop, indie rock, and dream pop catalogue this October in Sydney.

JACQUI

Jacqui
8:30pm

Born in South Korea, spending her childhood in China, and moving to the U.S in her teens to study at Berklee College of Music, Jacqui’s pursuit and adoration for music was awakened through the soul-stirring sounds of Erykah Badu’s Baduizm. Jacqui’s soundscapes of nu jazz, neo-soul, RnB, and pop are offered with integrity and wisdom beyond her years as she feels making music for her as a deeply spiritual process of self-actualisation and fulfilment.

Growing as a musical force to be reckoned with, her single ‘White Clouds’ appeared on the hit Netflix series My Holo Love, alongside the 2022 EP release Birthday (생일 ) and earlier three-track release ‘Mama Told Me’ that featured collaborations with O’Domar, G2, and Q the Trumpet.
Jacqui’s recently released ‘Salty Feelings’ a song about honouring one’s feelings has garnered her spins on triple j and an add to LA’s One’s To Watch playlist has already earned her title as a force to be reckoned with and is growing ever stronger with each release.

This October, Jacqui will soundtrack her bold next steps onstage for SXSW, embarking on her sonic metamorphosis, traversing themes of reflection and growth; of unleashing, facing, accepting, healing, returning, and repeating.

Meaningful Stone
9:30pm

A musician who seeks and sings about the meaning of life, emerging artist Meaningful Stone might be new to the Korean indie scene but is wise in songwriting beyond her years. Having released her first full-length album, A Call From My Dream in 2020, this critically acclaimed album won “The Rookie of the Year” award at the Korean Music Awards in 2021, and notching up #34 on the US 2020 RYM charts.

Meaningful Stone’s 2021 EP release COBALT saw her move away from the dreamy sounds of her previous work, into a more garage sound and reinterpretation of the classic 1990s alternative rock. The EP’s track ‘Dancing in the Rain’ went on to be nominated for the “Best Modern-rock Song” at the Korean Music Awards in 2022, with Meaningful Stone releasing three singles simultaneously; ‘Kiddo’, ‘Psychomania’ and ‘Trash’.

Their newfound style is a natural infusion of their influences growing up in Miami, New York, and Seoul.  While their sound may not be the easiest to pinpoint by region or genre, their songs exude strong hints of southern rap, and experimental trap and he narrative of their music threaded with the recipes of the cities they were immersed in, resulting in sonic cuisines that serve as a cultural meeting point for listeners of various backgrounds.
