Emotive electronic artist/producer Kuren has announced his debut album, Melting Conceptually, set for release on June 29 via ONETWO. To celebrate the release of his long-awaited debut, Kuren will be hitting stages around the nation in July on his Australian headline tour run. As part of National Reconciliation Week, Kuren will also head into triple j this Friday morning to take on Like A Version.

The latest single lifted from Melting Conceptually is “Never Enough ft. Sam Phay” and follows on from previously released singles “Bright Dawn Ft Illy”, “Mastercraft” and “Mon Amour Ft. Austen”. The quintessential “Kuren” sounding track, “Never Enough ft. Sam Phay” embodies everything he stands for as it builds to a dark crescendo. Having recently signed with Native Tongue publishing, Kuren (aka Curtis Kennedy) was originally paired up with Sam Phay to produce his music. During their sessions, the artists clicked and “Never Enough” was created.

Melting Conceptually has been a long time coming for Kuren, and he’s ecstatic for the world to finally hear what he’s been working on: “This has been the last 3 years of my life and I’ve never been more excited to share something. I’ve been on a journey finding myself and also my musical capabilities, which are ever-growing.”

Standing on the precipice of death, where would you choose to go – heaven or hell? It’s this question 20-year-old Indigenous, self-taught producer Kuren explores on his debut album Melting Conceptually. More than just an artist, Kuren is a storyteller, and on Melting Conceptually, we meet a man who has summed his soul to choose whether or not he wants to spend eternity in heaven or hell. We follow his subconscious mind as he wrestles with it almost to breaking point while Kuren takes listeners on a journey through an emotive driven electronic soundtrack that’s dark yet striking.

Constructed with all the visual assets first before moving on to the music, Melting Conceptually features collaborations with Illy, Ivan Ooze, Sydnee Carter, Austen, Sam Phay, Twerl and Kat Vinter.

Originally a self-taught producer via YouTube tutorials, Kuren has evolved into a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter and his signature electronica has amassed millions of streams and caught the attention of triple j, with multiple singles added to rotation and becoming Unearthed’s NIMA winner in 2016. That same year, Kuren was a finalist for the J Award Unearthed Artist of the Year. On stage, Kuren has toured with SLUMBERJACK and Illy as well as played Splendour in the Grass 2017 and the iconic Opera House during Vivid Sydney 2018.

A descendent of the Wiradjurian people, Kuren embraces his heritage by using his music to work in the Indigenous community. In 2016, Kuren composed the music for SBS’s Walkley Award Winning interactive animation My Grandmother’s Lingo. He recently completed a project with Urban Theatre Projects to compose the music for the BLAK BOX art instillation in Barangaroo, Sydney, which embraces the First Peoples’ concept of ‘deep listening’. BLAK BOX  opens on June 2 and runs until June 24.
