I Went Down is the second brilliant single of the year from Melbournians Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes, available for pre-save/order now and out on August 17 through Social Family Records.
Following on from the catchy, hook-laden You Remind Me of Myself (which scored high rotation on Double J, ABC Country and Kix Country, airplay on Coles Radio, as well as loving support from community radio across the country) this eclectic band have now chosen to drop a dark, bluesy, rootsy foot-stomper of a track, penned by lead guitarist, Damian Cafarella.
Lyrically, I Went Down is a return to storytelling: the paranoid narrator has a terrible secret, and he seems almost ready to tell us – but instead he relays his message via a series of coded references to song-writing luminaries such as Joni Mitchell, Charlie Louvin, Johnny Cash and Neil Young. Meanwhile, the band thumps and hisses its way through a musical swamp, with call-and-response guitars, wailing church organs and all sorts of unidentified percussion. It’s a murky, dirty, sinful good time!

About LACHLAN BRYAN AND THE WILDES
Golden-guitar winning trio Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes grew up in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, but quickly gravitated to the thriving inner-city music scene. They recorded and released their debut record a decade ago with ARIA-winning producer Jonathan Burnside (who’s now back on board as the band’s mastering engineer), and since then have released a stream of critically acclaimed albums and singles, picked up a handful of awards and toured the world.
Authenticity and credibility have always been at the forefront for LB and The Wildes – and they’ve carved themselves a niche as pioneers of the new wave of Alt Country in their homeland, whilst still finding time to headline Country, Roots and Folk festivals on the other side of the planet, which they intend to go back to post-covid.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
