“Laufey’s timeless, low-and-slow style warmly blends jazz, classical and pop, vividly soundtracking the young Icelander’s own tender age.” — NPR Music
“Mixing pop with classical flourishes, Laufey captures everyday emotions, like falling in love, and elevates them with a degree of musicality and flair that is anything but ordinary.” — The Fader
“Laufey deftly melds new elements of modern music with more traditional sounds of classic jazz, articulating the push and pull of love and loss with distinct eloquence.” — Consequence

LA-based, break-out jazz artist and multi-instrumentalist Laufey (pronounced lāy-vāy) unveils new track ‘From The Start’ via AWAL Recordings, the first taste of much more new original music to come later this year. The highly anticipated new single has already amassed 700,000 streams across DSPs since it became available this morning.
“‘From The Start’ is a bossa nova inspired song about being in love with your best friend…who is in love with someone else. I wrote the song to create a playful mix of old sounds with modern lyrics,” Laufey explains.
The song follows the release of A Night At The Symphony—a curated collection of songs Laufey recorded with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra during a sold-out two-night run at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík last year. A Night At The Symphony features previously released tracks off her debut album Everything I Know About Love and her 2021 EP, Typical of Me.
Her recently announced debut Australian shows in Melbourne & Sydney this June sold-out in minutes, with an additional Melbourne show also selling out.
Laufey’s headlining performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra this fall, as well as her entire summer tour across Asia Pacific also sold-out. She will also appear at various festivals this summer including Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Ottawa Jazz Festival and THING Festival.

Laufey is a 24-year-old, Los Angeles-based singer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose jazz songs are about young love and self-discovery. Raised between Reykjavík and Washington D.C. with annual visits to Beijing, the Icelandic-Chinese artist grew up playing cello as well as piano and became hooked on the jazz standards of Ella Fitzgerald after digging through her father’s record collection.
In 2020, while still a student at Berklee College of Music, Laufey released her debut single ‘Street by Street’, which went on to top the Icelandic radio charts. Following the release of her Typical of Me EP, Laufey was named Best New Artist in Jazz and Blues at the Icelandic Music Awards and hosted her own show on BBC Radio 3/BBC Sounds. Everything I Know About Love, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist Album chart, and the lead single “Valentine” peaked at #1 on the Spotify Jazz Chart. In 2022 Laufey was the most streamed jazz artist on Spotify, with 425 million streams across all platforms.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
