Following up his nightclub hits “My Space” and “Radio Man”, Sydney LGBTQI+ artist LAVRENCE is bringing us the fun, summery banger we didn’t know we needed; “Nightshade”. Embellished with his signature 80’s pop flavour and uplifting lyrics, this exciting dance track is a call to arms to all groovers and party people.
“Nightshade is my love letter to the Queer community,” said LAVRENCE. “It takes bravery, resilience and determination to think for yourself and show up in the world authentically – it’s not always safe to do so.”
Written with the queer community in mind, “Nightshade” is a song about rebellion that speaks to anyone who chooses to live in their truth and face the adversity that it may bring. The track explores the idea of shining a light on the parts of yourself that you keep hidden, whether it’s to be loved or accepted. To step into your power and start living a life that’s more in line with your true self and personal values.

The track is accompanied by a gorgeous music video, shot at Sydney LGBT+ hotspot The Imperial in Erskineville, in which LAVRENCE takes you gently by the hand and leads you into the exciting, glittery world of Sydney’s queer community.
“The music video for Nightshade is about a time in my life where I was playing it safe and keeping myself small, hidden,”said LAVRENCE.“I wasn’t aware I was doing that until I attended a wedding and heard the word ‘faggot’ being used so flippantly from one of the guests.
This was around the time of the vote on marriage equality in Australia and the general social tension coupled with this experience forced me out of my apathy. I went home that evening and felt compelled to watch a documentary on LGBTQIA+ history and subsequently wept for hours.
I was confronted with everything I had repressed and kept hidden. I was done being silent or apologetic. I made an unconscious promise to myself that I would live a more brave, authentic life – no matter who it may make uncomfortable.
“I wrote Nightshade for myself and in the music video, I’m performing it to that old version of me, the one at the wedding, who wasn’t yet brave enough to be himself but desperately wanted to.”

LAVRENCE, from the queer fringes of Sydney, has arrived. And he is posing the question – why exist quietly when your true self is just waiting to shine? The singer-songwriter is ecstatic to share the universe that he has lovingly created.
His huge party tracks “Shine”, “My Space” and “Radio Man” have already achieved notable success in the local scene, praised by triple j, Music Feeds, PileRats, Purple Sneakers and more. 2019 saw him named as the ‘Next Big Thing’ in Sydney’s premiere magazine for gay men, DNA Magazine, in a double page spread.
Growing up in a music obsessed household, LAVRENCE’s taste for performance was quickly established as he’d race home from school each day to perform to “Spice” by the Spice Girls (dressing up as either Ginger or Posh). He later honed these skills at a performing arts high school where he studied singing, dancing and acting.
Lavrence’s amazing stage presence and powerful confidence make him the ultimate performer, and 2019 saw the ambitious rising star grace the stage at the huge Heaps Gay Pardi Gras at Manning Bar, Birdcage at Sly Fox for their 7th birthday, Honcho Disko, Fur Coat Social, Cherch at Knox Street Bar, Canned Fruit at Secret Garden Bar, and many more following his performance debut at Heaps Gay’s The Haus Of Acrylic party at The Imperial Hotel, Sydney.
Accept LAVRENCE and come out of the dark – even if it’s just for three minutes. After that…it’s up to you.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
