Lil Silva’s first visit to the region sees him riding high after the release of his standout debut album Yesterday Is Heavy. Released in July this year, the album features guest appearances from friends and collaborators including Little Dragon, Sampha, BADBADNOTGOOD, Ghetts and Charlotte Day Wilson and invites Lil Silva’s listeners to see new sides of him, with tracks ranging from jazz rolls and meandering keys to Studio 54 style grooves and pulsing synth-pop cuts. The constant is Silva’s voice – at turns ghostly, piercing, warm, and grounded – paired with his deft touch and bounding creativity for song structures and acute arrangements.
Lil Silva cut his teeth in his hometown Bedford’s grime scene, where equally fierce competition and camaraderie pushed producers to find their own sound to stand out. As he stepped away from grime in the laste-noughties, the anthemic status of UK funky cuts Seasons and Pulse vs. Flex were immediate and enduring. They became Lil Silva’s sonic trademark, and the addition of his voice to tracks on his latest album has only compounded this quality.
Silva’s last sizeable chunk of solo material prior to Yesterday Is Heavy was 2016’s Jimi EP, but in the interim he’s collaborated with George Fitzgerald on the pair’s house-leaning OTHERLiiNE project, as well as writing songs with chart-scaling pop acts such as Mark Ronson, Adele, and Diplo.
Don’t miss your chance to see Lil Silva live in Australia and New Zealand this coming January.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
