Swedish synth-pop quartet, Little Dragon today unveil their latest single “Are You Feeling Sad?” featuring none other than Grammy nominated vocalist Kali Uchis, out via Ninja Tune. With vocals from frontwoman Yukimi Nagano along with the multi-talented instrumentalists Håkan Wirenstarnd, Fredrik Wallin and Erik Bodin, the track arrives ahead of their forthcoming studio album New Me, Same Us making its entrance on Friday, March 27.
Crafting dreamy electro overtones well-known from the Gothenburg-based four-piece, “Are You Feeling Sad?” folds their signature sound effortlessly with Kali’s vocals. Captivating listeners from the first beat the undeniably infectious track touches on themes of not worrying too much and care-free sentiments weaving through the delicate electronic synths and percussion textures. Having lent their own inimitable sound to many high-profile collaborations over the years—including Gorillaz, Mac Miller, Flying Lotus, BADBADNOTGOOD, SBTRKT, Flume, KAYTRANADA, Big Boi, De La Soul and many more—it is not often that they open up their own tracks to outside influences, with Kali becoming one of only a handful of featured artists appearing on their own productions.
Speaking on the single: “We are super excited Kali features on this track.” say the band, “all of a sudden at the end of last year, this version appeared in our emails like a beautiful Christmas gift. She put her twist on it and gave the track an amazing energy. Did we mention we also love her?!”
