Following the release of their long awaited return, with the stunning single ‘Lover‘, their national tour with The Rubens and impending Falls Festival appearance, adored Australian outfit LITTLE MAY today announce their own run of Australian headline dates.

Bringing their bold new sound to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney next February, LITTLE MAY will be supported by Melbourne-based songwriter and Bigsound break out act, RO on all shows.

Lover‘, the first track from the band since the release of their acclaimed, debut album For The Company, recorded in New York with Aaron Dessner (The National) reached #1 on the Amrap regional chart and has received airplay on BBC Radio 1.

With delicately woven harmonies and a marching pace beat, ‘Lover’ recognises the signature sound that is LITTLE MAY’s well-crafted and emotionally-connected indie rock, picking up right where they left off and thrusting them into a new chapter of music.

The tour announcement is accompanied by an intimate and beautifully shot stripped back version of ‘Lover‘. The video was filmed at Free Energy Device Studios in Camperdown, Sydney before they took to the stage at the Enmore Theatre supporting The Rubens.

Lover’ marks a new era of the band, now comprised of focal members Hannah Field and Liz Drummond. Reflecting the dark and seductive energy that first drew them millions of listeners around the world, ‘Lover’ addresses emotions of anger and self-acceptance, laced over dark folk-tinged production.

“Lover was one of the first songs we wrote for this record. We wanted to make new & bold choices with sound and be bold in our respective skins,” say Liz Drummond and Hannah Field. “Lover is about choosing yourself. It’s taken a long time for us to realise we can express anger as women. This song is the manifestation of our collective experience over the last few years”.

Accompanying them on the road next February is special guest, Margaret River raised, Melbourne-based songwriter RO. Following an impressive introduction with a debut performance at Bigsound, RO has released her second single ‘F**ked Up Over You‘. Describe by Triple J as “post-break-up attitude with poetic realness in a polished neo-pop package”, the track has received glowing reviews on Unearthed and been added to rotation on Triple J.

LITTLE MAY have one of the most storied careers in contemporary Australian music. Started by high school friends home-recording their shared passion for singing, playing and writing together, they now boast more than 111 million online streams. They have performed on some of the world’s biggest stages – from local festivals like Splendour In The GrassFalls and Laneway, through to supporting the likes of Mumford & SonsThe National, City & Colour, and The Vaccines.
