Following on from an electric gig at Melbourne’s Punters Club last Thursday, rising Naarm-based singer-songwriter Lotte Gallagher has released her anticipated debut EP A Better Feeling, and shared the video for ‘Blue’.
One of the EP’s most memorable moments, and an absolute force live, ‘Blue’ was written entirely by Lotte and is an emotionally charged, angsty heartbreak anthem that hits hard.
“The whole EP is me writing, getting it out and having a better feeling afterwards,” Lotte shares. “It’s kind of optimistic – no matter what you have going on, there’s a better feeling at the end.”

Lotte’s debut EP is a confident and addictive collection, combining the effortless cool of modern indie stars such as Phoebe Bridgers and Angie McMahon with the nostalgic energy of the 90s rock Lotte was raised on (think Portishead, Jeff Buckley and Nirvana).
Produced by Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson and featuring co-writes from both Dawson and Ali Barter, and including the singles ‘Adam’, ‘Gray’ and ‘This Room’, A Better Feeling is resplendent with propulsive, shimmering guitars, Lotte’s commanding vocals and her striking yet heartfelt lyricism. The EP was written during a time period spanning her early teenage years to the present; bringing forth an artistic and personal journey for a songwriter who’s still experiencing the highs and lows of young adulthood in real time.

In a treat for fans, A Better Feeling is also set to be released on translucent blue and red vinyl later this year. This very limited vinyl pressing (capped at 150 records per colour) includes a bonus, yet-to-be-released original from Lotte – ‘Can We Talk When It’s Over’. Each record will be hand-numbered, and all pre-orders will be signed.

The EP release is the cherry on top of an already huge year for Lotte. Her break-out single ‘Adam’ passed 1 million streams on DSPs, she recently completed her VCE and performed at BIGSOUND, she graced stages nationally with indie icons The Beaches and Ricky Montgomery, plus performed at a range of festivals including Laneway (Melbourne) and Party In The Paddock. Lotte’s next live performance will be at Live At The Gardens in Melbourne alongside Matt Corby and Middle Kids in November.
With her too-cool-but-I-care-too-much attitude, and now with her debut EP out in the world, it’s clear that Lotte Gallagher is a phenomenal artist with the talent and drive to become a true star of her generation.
