New single ‘Free’ was recorded in an old farmhouse in the mountains on Jinibara country in Queensland, Australia. Produced and engineered by Samuel Pankhurst (Yirinda), mixed by Jake Miller (Bjork), and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by Alex Wharton (The Pixies, St Germain); released through Fairhall’s own label Restless Sky Records. This is the 2nd taste from studio sessions for her forthcoming sophomore album ‘The Narrows’; the first single “Lullaby” was released in August and picked up airplay around Australia hitting the Top 10 on AMRAP’s regional airplay chart.
Speaking about ‘Free’, Lydia Fairhall said “I barely remember writing this song – I usually sit in my little bay window, overlooking the bush when I write, I always keep the window open and when that feeling comes into my arms and heart and voice, I know that a song is about to birthed. It’s a weird feeling and one that I love. It is communion with the Divine – the creativity of the most creative being flowing in around and through me. I picture the songs flying through the window, into me, and then out of me. And if my kids don’t interrupt me that whole process takes about 4 minutes. Song writing often takes me to the ocean, and in my life it’s the place I go when I’m trying to work stuff out so there’s this parallel process happening in my life and in my imagination. Free was like that – I could smell the ocean as I wrote it, and like much of the rest of my second album ‘The Narrows’, it’s about the liberation that follows when you embrace uncertainty, live a life of faith and just. let. go.”

AMNPLIFY – SS
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
