“…she’s releasing one of the best videos of the year which brings Maddy Jane together with some of Australia’s most remarkable women in music – both in the limelight and behind-the-scenes – to double down on the outpouring of confidence and self-empowerment that many have needed to tap into throughout the difficult year.” – Pilerats

Maddy Jane has today released the official music video to her empowering new single ‘You’re Not Mine (But I Think You Should Be)’ via Lemon Tree Records/Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Featuring an all-star cast of Australian female music trailblazers and friends, Maddy Jane stars in the video alongside Ruby Fields, Annie Hamilton, Odette, Lucy Smith (triple j), Lily Richardson (CLEWS) and Rosie Fitzgerald (I Know Leopard).

‘You’re Not Mine (But I Think You Should Be)’ is the compelling new single that directly follows Maddy Jane’s critically praised debut album NOT ALL BAD OR GOOD, which was released earlier this year through Lemon Tree Records/Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

‘You’re Not Mine (But I Think You Should Be)’ was recorded at Sony Studios in Sydney after Maddy Jane reimagined Natasha Bedingfield’s classic ‘Unwritten’ for triple j’s ‘Like A Version’.

This song was one that was trying to tell me something,” says Maddy. “It came together so quickly when I wrote it and recorded it in the middle of the pandemic. I spend so much time in my head coming from an insecure place and this was about realising I need to balance out those negative and insecure thoughts more often. It’s about coming from a place of confidence and reminding myself that I do love myself and I’ve grown so much. Something that I feel like we were all forced to look at this year. After I wrote this, I looked back and felt like I just taught myself a lesson. It’s a feel-good reminder that you are awesome and are just supposed to be doing, you!”

Hailing from the small island town of Bruny Island, Tasmania, Maddy’s honest lyrics and captivating song writing have earned her a regular spot on triple j’s airways and a place on huge arena tours supporting the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Harry Styles. With live music such a rarity, Maddy Jane recently delighted audiences across NSW with her formidable live show. To keep up to date with all things Maddy Jane, please visit HERE.
