“No other folk artist has had a fully-formed and breathtaking debut album as Melbourne singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch” VICE
“Zietsch’s sparse, haunting folk hammers home the ephemerality of life and the inevitability of leaving… a statement of survival, a falling away from comfort to find oneself” The Guardian (Best Australian Albums of 2021)
“The Melbourne-based songwriter’s debut is sparse and hypnotic, drawing connections between her experiences of leaving a relationship and leaving a religious upbringing” Pitchfork (7.4)
“A piece that tries to unravel the intricacies of a religious upbringing and a relationship, both of which kept her from being her true self” Bob Boilen (NPR)
“For someone so new, she really knows how to mainline straight to your heart and inhabit a very special emotional space really quickly” KCRW
“They say a debut album is a lifetime in the making. ‘To Enjoy’ vaults Maple Glider straight into the pantheon of beguiling modern indie folk/rock acts with Julia Jacklin, Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker and Aldous Harding” NME
“Some artists grab you from the first moment you hear them. For many music lovers, Tori Zeitsch has been one of those artists… Grasping the beauty and brilliance of Maple Glider’s debut album will take no time or effort. It’s a refined collection of deep songs written and played with enviable maturity and flair” Double J
“One of the best, most hauntingly beautiful voices we’ve heard, Tori Zietsch aka Maple Glider is our one to watch” 10 Magazine
“A vulnerable, visceral, and altogether enthralling experience, Maple Glider’s debut album is as radiant as it is raw” Beat Magazine

Galloping along in the countdown to the release of Maple Glider’s 2nd LP I Get Into Trouble, out Oct 13 via Pieater / Partisan Records, we are today graced with a double single single of ‘You At The Top Of The Driveway’ and ‘You’re Gonna Be A Daddy’ (focus track), bridging sides A and B of the album. With the release comes the announcement of Maple Glider’s upcoming Australian tour. LISTEN + WATCH HERE + BUY TICKETS HERE + PRE-ORDER LP HERE.
Singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch revisits the relationship with her brother that broke our hearts in ‘Mama It’s Christmas‘ – the closing track of her debut To Enjoy is the Only Thing. The tracks melt into one another, unfurling layers of lackadaisical guitar and candied vocals create a hushed version of Maple Glider’s infectious folk-pop. It’s an honest expression of love that captures the beautiful and unique worldview shift that comes along with welcoming a new life into the world.
Of the song pair, Zietsch says “I wrote these songs together as part one and two when I found out I was going to be an aunty for the first time. I experienced an urgent feeling of wanting to be near her, and I imagined all the things we’d be able to do together, in the same places where my brother and I grew up. I was having all sorts of considerations about my place in the world and what I am doing here, and I was searching for the things / people that hold importance to me.”
The video for ‘You’re Gonna Be A Daddy’ was filmed on Dja Dja Wurrung country in central Victoria, at The Salvage Yard, and is gratuitously full of colourful costumes and a fabulous unicorn affectionately nicknamed “Stubz. It was created with the same team behind the ‘Dinah‘ clip – co-directed by Bridgette Winten and filmed by Tom Dunphy. Today’s new release joins previously released singles ‘Don’t Kiss Me‘ and ‘Dinah‘ from the upcoming I Get Into Trouble album, supported across Double J and triple j Unearthed, NME, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, Happy Magazine and more praising Maple Glider’s terrain into previously uncharted territory and bravery in highlighting the “double standards and hypocrisy of Christianity” (Music Feeds).
Maple Glider will be touring the album with newly announced headline Australian dates in November – hitting Eora / Sydney, northern NSW, Meanjin / Brisbane and Naarm / Melbourne. These follow her debut international tour in September, with her two London shows already sold out. See all tour routing details BELOW.

About MAPLE GLIDER
Like her 2021 debut To Enjoy is the Only Thing, we can expect another collection of intimate vignettes of Tori Zietsch’s life on I Get Into Trouble, with memories of childhood, whether tender or accusatory; and the end of relationships. She also shares new life, new love, and the longing to reconnect after endless lockdowns. It was recorded with the same small team as its predecessor – Tom Iansek (#1 Dads, Big Scary, The Paper Kites) producing and mixing, and touring member Jim Rindfleish (Mildlife) on drums.
To Enjoy is the Only Thing earned over 22M streams, a performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk, Stephen Colbert’s #PlayAtHome series, as well as praise from Pitchfork, NPR Music, Paste, KCRW, Gorilla vs Bear, Consequence, VICE, triple j and Double J, NME, Rolling Stone, Frankie, 10 Magazine amongst others including Album of the Week placements nationally. Her music has been described as “hypnotic” (Pitchfork) and “sublime” (PAPER), and as Stereogum has put it “some voices in indie just hit home”.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
