‘RIDE ON’

Shot in 1973 over a big Easter surf weekend, the footage was discovered in a local friends cupboard. The imagery reflects life in the small Australian coastal region although it was shot in 1973 not much has changed.
Footage features local surfing legends along Victoria’s western coast captured beautifully by filmmaker John Nickless.
Lang’s debut single “Ride On” is a raucous, adrenalin-filled unravelling of distorted guitars and wailing vocals. Working with long-time friend and producer Nick Huggins (Jen Cloher, Kid Sam) the pair uncovered a new sonic landscape for Lang’s songwriting to inhabit. Heralding a darker, more direct approach, the song was recorded live in his back shed in the small Victorian coastal village. With guest appearances from Hollie Joyce and Chris Bolton (Seagull), the track channels a dynamic spirit.

Lang will spend the majority of 2018 touring between North America and Europe but returns home to launch his debut single at The Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday April 28. Featuring collaborations with acclaimed Melbourne visual artist Graham Altmann and animation by Leigh Ryan, the theatre will be transformed into an immersive cross-arts experience. Lang will perform new songs together with re-imagined versions from his extensive catalogue.
“Ride On” is out now through Shaping Shed/MGM, and is available on Spotify, iTunes and all streaming services.
