Master KG’s breakthrough hit ‘Jerusalema’ became a worldwide hit, a feelgood viral sensation that exceeded 800 million streams and 7 billion views on TikTok. Now he is in the process of going global once more, as ‘Shine Your Light’, his collab with the iconic superstar producer/DJ David Guetta that also features Akon, is quickly rising. The track’s release was greeted with more than 40 New Music Friday playlists, achieved a million + streams in just 24 hours, and was played on Radio 1.

Capturing the uplifting joy, hope and positivity of the song, the video features energising and charismatic performances from its three global artists. Cruising in a classic convertible, Master KG and Akon inspire adoration and frenzied dance scenes wherever they stop, while David Guetta helps to keep the atmosphere at fever pitch. The video was shot in the Dominican Republic by the Johannesburg-based director Kyle White, but the result will inspire fans all over the globe.
‘Jerusalema’ saw Master KG take African music culture to a worldwide audience, as it enjoyed a remarkable 8 week run at #1 on the global Shazam chart, while also going Top 5 on European airplay, and hitting major UK playlists at Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital Xtra. It won International Song of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards, where Master KG was also nominated for Best International Newcomer. He was acclaimed by the MOBO Awards too, with a nomination for Best African Act. The song’s irresistible dance challenge was a vital part of its success, as it inspired Cristiano Ronaldo and Janet Jackson to get involved, while the South African president Cyril Ramaphosa encouraged the whole country to join the fun.
