Lewes-born singer-songwriter Matilda Cole follows up a string of previously released singles with her brand new, highly-anticipated EP, Pomegranate, released on 23rd August via Other Songs. Matilda also played her headline show at The Grace, London on 22nd August.
Cementing her reputation as one of the most exciting singer-songwriters coming out of the UK right now, Matilda Cole continues to showcase her versatility and explore the different range and depths of her unique sound with this new five track project co-produced with Will Bloomfield. The project kickstarts with “Mortal”, one of the most powerful tracks from the EP, as Matilda reflects on love as a power and coming to terms with being in a relationship again. From the frank and urgent “Big Mouth”, which stands as a call-out to social issues women face every day after being approached by a drunk male during a recent trip to London, to the more joyful yet poignant “Shiny Things”, touching on the theme of how older males use women as status symbols, Matilda’s project, including two unheard singles “Dionysus” and “Ribcage”, is a powerful ode to her innate talent and ability in crafting some of the most forward thinking music to come out of the UK.
Speaking on the EP, Matilda states: “I can’t wait for the EP to be out as a whole. I’m so proud of it — the visuals, the story and how it sounds. It really feels like a proper body of work and I’m so excited for you to hear it.”
Since first making waves in 2021 with her debut project Milk Teeth, Matilda’s consistent, accomplished releases has seen attention grow across the underground and beyond, racing to well over 860K streams on project opener “The Clouds”, and more recently delivering The High Dive EP in 2023 boasting tracks such as “Again” and “Bite Down” — collectively amassing just under half a million streams on Spotify alone. With previous work garnering critical support from the likes of CLASH, WONDERLAND MAGAZINE, DORK and NOTION, with WONDERLAND recently championing Matilda’s single “Big Mouth” as a ‘statement of intent’. Also a scintillating live act, Matilda has already supported Paris Paloma on tour, and delivered an intoxicating performance at her headline show at The Grace London.
A growing beacon for female empowerment and lived experience, Matilda’s music has seen her cultivate a significant following whilst being an integral part of the collective Loud LDN — a female-only collective championing artists and genderqueer creatives from around the country. Now risen to over 150 members, the events have given a platform to showcase the most exciting upcoming female talent, picking up support across both the BBC and NME as well as an event for ‘Our Generation’ for SPOTIFY.
Involved in every aspect of her music, from production to artwork to self-producing videos, Matilda is a true creative in her own right, successfully bridging music with modelling and fashion, as well as her love for vintage clothing and Greek mythology. With the release of Pomegranate, 2024 looks set to be a milestone year for one of the finest homegrown talents coming through right now.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
