With the release of the new single “Speak In Tongues” – out now on all platforms! – Melbourne artist Max Lawrence is exercising his rising future pop energy to help unite the alternative queer club community in these isolated times.
Max has been engaged during this second wave of Melbourne Lockdown reaching out to fellow queer performers for a “Queers at Home” edition of Speak In Tongues. A collage of exciting local performers have submitted filmed lip-synch performances to the new single, the track itself a homage to the queer clubs that are central to the community and currently so missed.
“In isolation I’ve really missed queer club spaces and the amazing drag performers and community surrounding it, so I wanted to bring us together in virtual space to stay connected and continue to celebrate, even while Melbourne is in lockdown” .
The Queers at Home edition of Speak in Tongues features Melbourne Drag/Fringe favourites including The Beastie Girls (Lazy Susan, Zelda Moon, Benign Girl), Bathsheba, Alex De Porteous, Victoria Bitter, Enigma + more.
A synth heavy adventure, Max’s brand new single “Speak In Tongues” aligns energies with the progressive pop of Christine and The Queens and Dorian Electra. An infectious New Jack Swing groove carves its way through the track exalting the legends of Prince and The Jacksons.
“I believe we’ll all come out of this so much stronger and more connected and we’ll have so much party fire inside us we’ll need to release into the world. I’m really excited for it!”

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
