Today, Mel Bailey drops her 5-track debut EP, ‘No Doubt, Just Questions.’, a notable display of her neo-soul flexibility.
Since finding her sweet spot with a 7-piece band, Mel Bailey has made a name for herself in the Sydney RnB/Soul Scene. In December, she released her stripped-back debut single, ‘Better Days‘, bringing to life a story about escapism, which we could all relate to.
The EP, produced by fellow artist, Kwame, features 5 original songs written by Mel Bailey, as well as astounding pianist Nikos H. Smallman. Working closely with Kwame and her band, we see hip-hop influences intersected with lush jazz-flecked layers. As she switches pace and style from track-to-track she conveys an honest self reflection. This EP is undeniably a testament to the artistry of her work as each song is a confessional showcase of Bailey’s ambitions, relationships and empowerment throughout the past year.

“I have grown so much in the past year. Personally, I don’t have doubt in myself anymore and I have learnt to accept the things I cannot change, but I will always question people’s motives and want some sort of closure. I’m a defiantly curious person.”, says Bailey.
In support of the EP release, Mel Bailey and her 7-piece band will be headlining ‘Lady Lady’ on Friday the 19th of January, 2018 at The Lady Hampshire.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
