So far the reviews echo the statement:
“Mélancolia have superseded the limitations of genre. random.access.misery is unlike anything else out there.” Wall Of Sound 10/10
“Mélancolia sound terrifyingly relevant, merging blackened atmospherics, deathcore weight, and nu-metal groove without compromise. It’s music that’s as claustrophobic as it is cathartic, pushing the boundaries of what heavy can mean in 2025.” HEAVY Mag 9.5/10
“random.access.misery feels like a blackened nu metal and deathcore Saw soundtrack.” Metal Hammer 7/10
“random.access.misery is a monumental leap forward for an already talented band, showing that deathcore as a genre still has a lot to offer…” Boolin Tunes 9/10
“When I interviewed Mélancolia back in 2023 I remarked that it won’t be long until the band breaks through the stratosphere, and judging by the strength of their sophomore album that time is approaching fast.” Tyrannocoreus on PBS FM 9/10

Melbourne blackened nu-metal force Mélancolia today unleash their anticipated sophomore album, ‘random.access.misery’, via Greyscale Records and Nuclear Blast. They also share the music video for “Lithia” featuring Hunter Young of Moodring. To mark the album’s arrival, the band will embark on their ‘access.all.misery’ national headline tour this September, with tickets available now HERE.
Picked as one of four 4 “brilliant new metal bands you need to hear” by Metal Hammer in April, the band are primed and ready to share their defining new album today; “We are bringing a fresh sound to an otherwise stale scene, you will not hear what we are doing from anyone else,” says the band. “We are setting the trend as we set the bar for modern heavy music. Love us or hate us, you will fucking remember us.”
Momentum is at an all time high for the band, having toured Australia three times over off the back of their debut album ‘HissThroughRottenTeeth’, and breaking into Europe and the UK twice on tours with Suffocation (US) and Ingested (UK). They wrapped a 17-date national tour supporting Thy Art Is Murder in July and prepare to embark on their own East Coast headliner starting September 11.
Mélancolia is Alex Hill (vocals), Joshua Taafe and Billy Morris (guitars) Mason Page (drums) and Toby Thomas (bass). After establishing themselves in 2022 with their debut single “Horror_Ethereal”, the band announced the following February their signing to both Greyscale Records for Australia/New Zealand and Nuclear Blast for the rest of the world. They released their debut album ‘HissThroughRottenTeeth’ in April 2023, crafting a unique sound that has already catapulted them to new heights. Their very first show was in 2023 supporting Thy Art Is Murder on their Decade Of Hate Australian Tour alongside Starve and Justice For The Damned. Since this they’ve toured with To The Grave, Fallujah (US), Cattle Decapitation (US), Ingested (UK), Vulvodynia (SA), Suffocation (US) and many more.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
