release stunning new album
‘CLASSIC AND COOL’
Sydney Jazz duo Melody and Elsen release a stunning new 8-track Classical/Jazz album ‘Classic and Cool’.
Performing organic interpretations of jazz standards, with the unusual instrumentation of voice and double bass. Arrangements for pieces are often improvised, then though performing numerous gigs, find their natural final ‘feel’.
Exploring textures of genres through Jazz, Vocal jazz, Double bass, Romantic and Acoustic, the album touches the heart-strings with each performance. Leaving audiences captivated and filled with joy.
The album also features two collaborative performances with concert pianist Van-Anh Nguyen, the pieces ‘Stardust’ and ‘Someone to watch over me’.
On what they want the audience to take-away, Elsen said, “We want people to enjoy the music for what it is, because we enjoyed making it. If theres one of tunes on the album that really make you feel something, then go with it!”
“Some people really enjoy the love songs, others like the more beautiful sad songs, some like the bouncy fun tunes, and others like the more silly songs. People should remember it’s just music and they can listen to whatever they want, where ever they want, and allow themselves to feel things”.
The duo are artists’ in their own right, however the duo started performing together since 2020. Since then they’ve sold-out a few performances at Sydneys leading music venues collaborating with some of Australia’s leading jazz musicians.
Together they have performed at Australian Mining, Australian Defence Force and performing multiple shows for visiting South Korean international guests, in addition to having residencies at numerous Sydney venues including The Grounds of the City and The Old Fitz.
Individually Mel has toured Australia, Europe and the USA, collaborating with international leaders in music theatre and film including Hollywood legend Marni Nixon. Elsen has toured Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Czech Republic, India and the UK.
Van-Anh Nguyen was a ARIA nominated concert pianist and Universal/Decca/Deutsche Grammophon recording artist Van-Anh Nguyen is a worldwide sensation and in-demand artist. She has had several ARIA & iTunes chart toppers and became the first Australian-Vietnamese to ever in history enter the US iTunes Classical Charts.
Elsen and Melody have a performance together at Bondi Pavilion, 9th October.
