“Polymath prince Jake Webb has landed a perfect triple axel with Methyl Ethel’s album, Triage. It’s the WA band’s third faultless LP, a record that signs off on a songwriting chapter where Webb “got obsessed with a lot of theory, essentially the core of it is trying to discover what it is about songs and why they work.” And, oh they work.” – Herald Sun ★★★★★
“It’s another impressive assortment of psychedelic, new-wave pop.” – Beat
“’Real Tight’ is one of the most pop-adjacent tracks he’s ever made, complete with a swelling chorus and some of the most achingly personal lyrics in the Methyl Ethel canon.” – Noisey
“Methyl Ethel is one of Australia’s weirdest, most beguiling bands, with its endlessly creative frontman Jake Webb nimbly leaping between sounds that draw upon classic pop, shoegaze, and R&B….and now the CoSigned act is back with a thrilling new song.” – Consequence of Sound
“Choc-a-bloc with hooks and head-nodding electro-pop from the get-go, Methyl Ethel have reached great new heights with this stellar effort.” – DIY ★★★★
“Triage is a diverse and dynamic fringe-pop triumph.” – X-Press
“Triage sees Methyl Ethel craft another album of intricately crafted alternative dreamy pop, utilising a wider range of synth sounds than before to amazing effect, with melodies shimmering and cutting through the mix.” – RTR FM
“Triage is a spectrum of colour and abstract character, stained with a unique personality. Thanks to this approach, Triage is the finest work from Methyl Ethel yet.” – The Line Of Best Fit

Methyl Ethel are pleased to announce BRONCHO and Ada Lea as tour supports for the Triage album tour. The Triage album tour kicks off in Perth on Saturday 15th June. First shows in Melbourne and Brisbane have already sold out, with second dates announced. Full details and ticket links are below.
This will be the first time Oklahoma band BRONCHO will play to Australian audiences. Their fourth record, Bad Behaviour, represents a picture of a band that have crushed their own commercial expectations and are doing what they want to do at their own pace. Bad Behaviour is a record with urgent, bonafide pop songs.
Ada Lea is a Montreal based musician, painter and visual artist. The traces of her many creative abilities run throughout her debut album, what we say in private, which will be released in July via Saddle Creek. Bold and daring, but also gentle and vulnerable, the album finds new ways of presenting its vision from one inspired idea to the next, a big leap into the wider world with passion and exuberance.
Methyl Ethel have also shared a new live version of single ‘Real Tight’. Directed by Matt Sav, the video was filmed at Jake Webb’s home in Perth.
Triage, out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control, is Methyl Ethel’s third album. It was written, produced and performed by Jake Webb, mixed by Marta Salogni and mastered by Heba Kadry. The album was recorded in Webb’s home studio in West Perth.
Methyl Ethel is the musical project of Jake Webb. As a live band, it expands to a five-piece and includes Thom Stewart, Chris Wright, Lyndon Blue and Jacob Diamond. Methyl Ethel has enjoyed phenomenal successes over the last years. In their home country of Australia, ‘Ubu’ became an ARIA Accredited Gold single earlier this year off the back of landing at #4 on triple j’s 2017 Hottest 100. The band have clocked up over 46 million streams on Spotify alone and all of their tour dates in Australia and the UK since 2016 have sold out.
