Praise for MGMT
“An album of impressively melodic psychedelic pop… Loss of Life covers a surprising amount of musical ground in 45 minutes: everything from Ziggy-era Bowie on Bubblegum Dog toNothing to Declare’s flirtation with Simon and Garfunkel-esque folk…Loss Of Life is delightful thing to immerse yourself in.” The Guardian – 4 Stars (Album of the Week)
“MGMT built its career on confounding expectations and Loss of Life continues the trend by upping the simplicity and accessibility.” Wall Street Journal
“Their fifth studio album certainly has a nostalgic feel to it, but there’s also something new: a tenderness and hopefulness that listeners might not expect from a title like “Loss of Life” or a band with a history of unseriousness.” Associated Press
“some of the most beautiful and alive music MGMT has made since their 2007 debut.” Vulture
“‘Loss of Life,’ a new album that shows that however you think of them, they’re still capable of defying that.” The Ringer
“Once again, MGMT use their eccentricities to warp a pristine pop song into something beautifully bizarre.” Exclaim
“‘Loss of Life’ is MGMT’s most cinematic record to date” Under The Radar
“MGMT’s story continues to unfold as both unlikely and triumphant.” Brooklyn Vegan
“Loss of Life is a kaleidoscopic, but not just because it’s a trippy psych-rock album—it’s because it takes all these pieces, four-bar phrases and homages and spins them together succinctly.” Paste
“Two decades since forming MGMT as Wesleyan University students, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser haven’t lost their psychedelic puckishness. Despite its grim title, their fifth album, Loss of Life (out Feb. 23), contains some of the duo’s most sincere, hopeful music yet.” Billboard
“a welcome refinement on the psych-pop they explored on 2010’s Congratulations… Whatever MGMT has in store for us, it seems to have been worth the wait.” UPROXX

MGMT have added today to their already impressive video catalogue with a new clip for ‘People in the Streets’ by first-time director Christina Marie Karr. For her version of ‘People In The Streets’, Karr combined personal everyday objects and archival footage to establish inner and outer landscapes of the domestic psychedelic. WATCH HERE.
Speaking on the video, MGMT share, “Here it is, the last visual stop for ‘Loss Of Life’. The caboose is loose. The brain waves goodbye, components start breaking down. The smoke dissipates. Now the streets are empty. Now the streets are full. What is meant by all of this? When all is not and everything is still, everything moves.
‘The tears of the world are a constant quantity. For each one who begins to weep, somewhere else another stops. The same is true of the laugh.’ – Samuel Beckett
Life is bizarre combinations of impossible, framed by the mundane. We love you all, MGMT”

‘People in the Streets’ is from MGMT’s most recent album, Loss Of Life, released this past February on Mom+Pop. The album was produced by MGMT, along with Patrick Wimberly (Solange, Lil Yachty, Joji). Longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Spoon) mixed the album as he has done on the group’s past four full-lengths.

About MGMT
Formed in 2002, MGMT released their influential, Grammy-nominated debut album Oracular Spectacular in 2007, followed by Congratulations in 2010, and a self-titled project three years later. The title track of the duo’s most recent album, 2018’s Little Dark Age, became an out-of-nowhere viral smash during the COVID-19 pandemic. It spawned more than five million videos about social justice, trans rights, anime and the war in Ukraine, and is currently the band’s #1 most streamed song and third most streamed all-time behind ‘Electric Feel’ and ‘Kids‘.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
