Michael Kiwanuka Tour Sells Out, Second And Final Sydney Show Announced
‘Few albums are as brave and ambitious’ – The Sun
‘Michael Kiwanuka’s second album might just be the best of the year’ – The Times
Following a phenomenal Splendour In The Grass appearance earlier this year, delighting crowds with his smooth acoustic folk and soulful vocals, London’s Michael Kiwanuka has sold-out both his Sydney and Melbourne Bluesfest sideshows and today announces a second and final show at Oxford Art Factory on Thursday 20th of April. Tickets are on sale now!
Kiwanuka has the rare honour of having both his debut record Home Again and his sophomore record Love & Hate nominated for the Mercury Prize. He has received critical acclaim from journalists and fellow musicians alike; all paying testament to his incredibly smooth and soulful voice that recalls a number of the greats of our time.
Love & Hate was produced by Danger Mouse, who has also worked with U2, The Black Keys,Gorillaz and Beck. It’s a record that sounds as though it has been unearthed from a long forgotten studio canister in the seventies, but is permeated with a timelessness that defies any artist of any specific era.
Earlier this year, Michael Kiwanuka and the legendary Nas collaborated to soundtrack Baz Luhrmann’s new Netflix drama series, The Get Down. Nas, the narrator of the series, draped his vocals over two of Kiwanuka’s tracks: ‘Rule The World’ and ‘Black Man In A White World’ for the show.
Michael Kiwanuka is an authentic artist with soul and grit, his beautiful voice and charm will warm all of our souls once more in 2017.
