Praise for MIJO:
“This is surf-rock at its brightest and most infectious, asking that age old question of just how we’re going to make this one life we’re given really count.” – The AU Review
“Moody, heartbreaking, stunning, f#$king epic.”
Beat Magazine
“Fantastic haunting pop. There are Buckley-esque tones to the vocals – perfect for the soaring melodies. Lovely warm, acoustic instrumentation. Defo one for fans of Augie March, Mum, Beirut etc.”

With a slew of poignant lyrics and Mijo’s stunning signature vocals, the album covers the depths of love, loss and exploration of new horizons that resonate deeply within every listener. The album begins with “Oh Raven,” written on an isolated retreat in Iceland, opening the album with a deep pondering of existence and purpose. “That’s So Pretty”, with a beautiful swelling quartet and resonating harp this tilting love song raises you before revealing the darker underbelly of unrequited love A theme continued in “You’ve Got Your Life” where the message is all in the title, inspired by the passing of a friend, on the unfathomable reality of death – a story continued in “I Heard You Calling” where the personal ultimate feeling of loss is felt so deeply within loved ones.
Both “Trapped Fox” and “Golden Moment” follow existential themes of how the external influences that shape us as individuals impact upon our identities, ultimately posturing the importance of living in the moment, finding a sense of self-awareness if “we connect with the gold in every moment.” The inspired notion that “We are stronger against the tyranny together” is the foundation for the chaotic yet empowering “We’ve Got The Numbers” with a frenetic rush of bass and percussion driving forth lilting anthem. Rounding out the album sees a discussion of the power of love in “Twin Flames” simple metaphor tells us that when we make a connection with that companion flame the unity and shared expression of light and life is drastically amplified. Rounding out the album is the beautiful “I Remember”, that prompts a deep and final suggestion that we all search our minds for instances of love, “There’s a moment to go back to, to linger on, to tap into the remnants of and to connect with the protective power of unadulterated love.”

Melbourne musician Mijo Biscan is a songwriter willing to go the extra mile for his craft. Eager to push the concept of solitude as a pathway to inspiration, Mijo travelled to Iceland where on a month-long songwriting retreat he formed the genesis for a creative shift. It was the crucial starting point for his debut album “Golden Moment”.
“It was dead quiet. Shockingly quiet,” he said. “In the midst of silence, the only thing I could hear was my innermost thoughts waiting to manifest into new songs.”
The releases of singles “You’ve Got Your Life”, “That’s So Pretty” earlier in the year, and most recently “We’ve Got The Numbers”, were met with shining praise from triple j, The AUReview, Clipped TV, Good Intent, AAA Backstage, CrushCop and a whole host of local sites which cemented the success of his creative shift.
Already an established and respected artist for over a decade, Mijo has enjoyed a rewarding career as the co-creator of the critically acclaimed band Lamplight and as a solo artist. Mijo toured 13 countries of Europe and featured as a support act to Gotye, Missy Higgins, Clare Bowditch and Tommy Emmanuel, both in Australia and abroad.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
