Reflecting on the album’s inspiration, O’Dowd shares, “ This album is about the breakdown of a relationship. The songs chronicle how I was feeling at each particular moment. I tried to not censor or second guess myself in any way during the writing process. Because of this, I feel certain truths are embedded in the songs. I’m still discovering exactly what a lot of them mean, but I know the album is honest and every line is true. That’s the most important part for me.”
‘Game Of Love’ serves as the album opener and showcases O’Dowd’s versatile musicianship in a more energetic light. The track blends laid-back country-blues guitar riffs and subtle bass lines with a driving reverb heavy drum kit, creating a previously unseen dynamic sound.
As the lead single, ‘Game Of Love’ introduces one of the album’s overarching themes – the exploration of the destructive and complex nature of love. Despite the difficult subject matter, the track carries a sense of hope, perfectly setting the tone for the introspective journey that ‘One Lover Leaves’ promises to deliver.

Accompanied by a compelling music video, ‘Game Of Love’ shows the songwriter reminiscing over super8 home movies. These scenes, shot on 16mm by Tom Dunphy (Maple Glider, Leah Senior, The Murlocs) enhance the bittersweet nostalgia of the song and tie into themes first explored on previous singles ‘One Lover Leaves’ and ‘They Walked Past A Work Of Art’.
O’Dowd’s previous single ‘They Walked Past A Work Of Art’ saw airplay on Double J (Tower Of Song), alongside support from Beat Mag, Scenestr, Happy Mag, Forte and more.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
