Melbourne designer turned songwriter, Minhy, emerges from the shadows to release her debut single ‘Dead Of The Night’. With vampire themed lyrics and Minhy’s haunting vocals, ‘Dead Of The Night’ is an ode to creative night owls, shining a spotlight on the lengths creators go to bring their ideas to life.
Citing influences like BANKS, FKA Twigs and The Weeknd, Minhy’s dark, synth driven track is a hypnotic blend of hip hop beats and alt RnB elements. Minhy uses mournful piano and ethereal textures to draw the listener in to an exploration of inner turmoil and hope.

Minhy wrote ‘Dead Of The Night’ in December 2020 after musing in her journal. With her bedtimes starting to slip past 3am, Minhy reminisced about her uni days, when she’d often stay up all night completing her design assignments. “I would lose track of time, so when the birds started chirping at dawn that would be my cue to creep into bed, feeling drained yet gratified.” This is what sparked Minhy’s metaphor: “my muse is a vampire” and wrote the song from the perspective of a vampire slave, anxiously waiting for inspiration to strike.
‘Dead Of The Night’ also touches on the demons that creators face, from fearing the blank canvas to the overarching moments of doubt, as the path of an artist can often feel unconventional. “But I think being different, being yourself, is what makes a difference. Growth comes out of activities that are both exciting and scary.”
For the production, Minhy called on SB90 (Thandi Phoenix, KLP, Illy) to bring ‘Dead Of The Night’ to life. “It was a magical experience working with Stu to sonically flesh out the story of the song.” Starting with sparse production to convey a sense of solitude, the track progressively captivates you until a moment of complete surrender, before a satisfying drop that possesses you into a flow state.
In less than 3 minutes, Minhy transports you into her creative mind and takes you on an all-nighter ride. And with Halloween around the corner, ‘Dead Of The Night’ is a definite treat for your playlist.

BIOGRAPHY
Minhy [min-ee] is a visual and melodic storyteller, unravelling the intricate chapters of her own story through her design, songs and production.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Minhy is driven by her family’s refugee journey after the Vietnam War. Their sacrifice and hard work to build a better future has inspired Minhy to make the most of the blessings she’s been given.
With an upbringing valuing academics, responsibility and security, Minhy harboured a quiet dream to be creative and expressive – a dream that challenged these traditions. Recognising her personal values, Minhy took small steps to break free of the family mould, starting with a career in automotive design, later branching further afield to explore production and sound design, whilst establishing herself as a freelance graphic designer. It wasn’t until she was introduced to songwriting at 31 that she finally found her voice.
Minhy’s songwriting style is reflective and attentive, bursting with melodies that feel familiar and fresh. Drawing from a palette of pop, electronic and R&B, Minhy’s influences include Alicia Keys, Grimes, Kimbra and Banks.
Minhy shines a light on the good, finds meaning in the dark and tells stories with a deeper perspective.
Minhy is due to release her debut single, ‘Dead Of The Night’ on 8th October 2021.

AMNPLIFY – JC
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
