Growing up and letting go is at the heart of Idle Light, the ethereal second album from multi-disciplinary artist Clea.
The long-awaited follow-up to the 2018 debut album Vermillion, which featured the award-winning single ‘Dreaming’, Idle Light is a dreamy swirl of ‘mantra pop’, blending elements of pop, indie and electronica to create a sound that is uniquely Clea. With her signature sound, the 10-track LP is music to dive headfirst into, letting each part of it sink deep into your bones.
Says Clea: “‘Idle Light’ is an expression of the soaring highs and crushing lows of early adulthood. The songs repeatedly reinforce a feeling and message over and over, something I embraced and encoded as ‘mantra pop.’ You will either find yourself in a state of bliss or existential questioning. I am singing the mantras to myself, my loved ones, anyone and everyone.”
With a release campaign marking each phase of the new moon with a new musical offering, we have seen an intoxicating and dreamy mix of music and visual art for the songs; ‘Listen Up’, ‘Easy To Forgive’, ‘I Wanna Be Alive’, ‘Crash Land’, Exit Game, Any Time Soon and today’s video release, Bad Behaviour.
In her latest clip, Clea teams up with director Levi Strauss Cranston to create the perfect montage music video. Shot entirely on Kodak Motion Picture film, the Bad Behaviour official video was filmed along the coast of Lennox Head and Byron Bay NSW.
An artist’s artist, Clea has a hand in every part of her process, including production, videos and styling, to create a visceral experience for all the senses. This multisensory experience seamlessly translates to her live performance, as recently witnessed during last weeks supports for Telenova and Kimbra. Clea’s inner universe comes alive through the visual accompaniments to her music, catapulting the listener into another layer of imagination. In line with her passion for sustainability, many of the pieces she wears in her shoots and videos are sourced secondhand or made locally. “I see and present my world not just through music but through colours, expressions and motifs,” she says.

AMNPLIFY – ML
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
