Fun loving, curly-haired, indie-rock trio My Giddy Aunt return with the release of their lead single off their upcoming EP, ‘Sunk’. The Naarm based trio of Océane (she/her), Luke (they/them) and Rory (he/him) have been exciting listeners since their conception – their new release digs into classic rock roots – with a sprinkle of My Giddy Aunt on top.
If you’re a fan of Gang Of Youths or Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, the euphonic sound of ‘Sunk’ will not fall short of your favourite indie-rock playlist.

‘Sunk’ plays on that dreadful feeling of wishing the people closest to you would never have to leave – and that feeling of sudden nausea when you wrestle with the weight of the world and realise how depressingly wide it is.
“When someone you’re close to has to go it doesn’t seem real until this feeling attaches itself like an anchor to your neck and smacks you in the face with a wet rag. It’s definitely a wet rag kind of a song lyrically, but it’s offset by how fun and energetic the instrumental is.” Rory Vagg
The band chose to dig into the roots of traditional rock in the recording process of ‘Sunk’, with performing the track live before recording having a strong influence on the production of the track. Touching on other indie-rock influences, the band strived to achieve a high-powered vocal performance. Rory’s vocal expertise is next-to-none, managing to cross 4 octaves, including the high-pitched backing vocals.

“Despite its rock roots, we still added our classic fun studio touches to the recording, like the huge synth wall that swells up in the bridge.” Luke Perry
With the band forming as a trio just this year – they have already seen great success! With the addition of to the band this year, they’ve seen great success accumulating over 17,000 plays across streaming platforms. Most recently, My Giddy Aunt has played headliner gigs at infamous Naarm venues The Retreat Hotel and The Workers Club, as well as performing at the Queen’s College Music and Drama Society’s most recent annual music festival ‘Quadstock’.
‘Sunk’ will be released to all streaming platforms on Thursday, October 13th – with their debut EP releasing on Thursday, October 27th.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
