Well-known figure around the Melbourne music scene Wally Kempton is taking the plunge in 2018 and launching his brand-new Record Label Cheersquad Records & Tapes.
With a background in Music, Music and more Music, Wally has worked at radio stations, venues, record companies, distributors, been a booking agent, artist manager, tour manager, a band member with Even and The Meanies, and now a Record Label founder with Cheersquad Records & Tapes.
‘I wanted to put out music that I really loved, and thought should be heard. I also wanted to make older, fabulous Aussie material available on 12” vinyl for the first time’ said Wally, primarily creating the new label to release material he is passionate about.
So, in 2018 Cheersquad Records & Tapes will release new material from acts such as Money For Rope, Minibikes, Andrew McKeag Band & Los Chicos, along with older material from artists including Sidewinder, Snout & Even.
Melbourne five-piece surf/soul/rock/garage band Money For Rope are excited to be the first official release on Cheersquad Records & Tapes with their single ‘Earl Grey’. Lifted from the forthcoming album Picture Us the digital single will be available on Spotify & iTunes and will be released on Friday May 4 here in Australia through Believe Music, and in Europe on German label Haldern Pop Recordings.
