Sweat It Out are proud to announce the most recent signing to the Sweat roster, Sydney 3-piece Mazy, who have been making waves since the independent release of their debut single ‘Heliar’ just last year. Consisting of Ben Tierney (vocals), Tim Grimes (synths/keys), and Sam Clayton (bass), the trio have spent 12 months writing away in a wee studio above Leichardt Bakery, producing an array of outstanding psychedelic indie electronic. The first taste of new music, ‘Enemies’ is out now via Sweat It Out.
Stylistically, Mazy draws on a wide array of influences weaving in and out of the delicately organic to the powerfully electronic. The mult-instrumentalists use their wide instrumental resources to create vast soundscapes with splashes of colour from start to finish of all their tracks. There is something nostalgic, yet completely unique about newcomers Mazy.
“Enemies is a statement on the underlying similarities between all people. We as a society tend to notice the differences, and then draw lines across them dividing people into categories like sex, race, class, age and religion. We wanted a song that expresses our belief, that we have so much more that binds us together across these divides than what separates us. In the end, we all want the same thing” – the band on the concept of the single.
Already raising eyebrows at triple j unearthed HQ on their debut ‘Heliar’, reaching #1 on the Electronic charts and #5 on the overall charts, Mazy are undeniably the up and comers to keep an eye on. No stranger to performing live, the guys have played as members of other Australian projects like New Navy, I Know Leopard, Gaspar Sans and Winter People. The Sydney-siders have already been picked up by booking agency Niche Productions and have their debut live show booked for Saturday 19th May @ 107 Projects, Redfern. Make sure to keep across their socials for further news on gigs and tickets!
