Praise for recent releases:

“Really impressed with the dreamy grandeur of this one. The strings and piano combine to a velveteen effect (how apt) and the drive and desire of Nuria’s vocal seems to inject the track with a tangible sense of inertia.” – Dave Ruby-Howe, review of ‘Red Velvet”

“Nuria’s in full control of this evocative pop ballad. I like the way that the shimmering verses give way to a rumble of drama and emotion in the chorus.” – Dave Ruby-Howe, review of ‘Juliette’

“Nuria has crafted something full of tension and drama and it gets your heart racing!”– Declan Byrne, review of ‘Closer’

“Nice slick sound, lovely build” – Stacy Gougoulis, review of ‘Closer

Nuria.

Tasmanian singer-songwriter Nuria is showing no signs songwriting fatigue. With her debut album ‘Alive’ released in 2020, followed by sophomore album ‘Silver’ in 2021, she is now launching the first single ‘Graffiti’ off her third album. From the rich, orchestral vibes of ‘Silver’ this new single ‘Graffiti’ sets a different tone for what’s to come. Blending soaring vocals, spunk and a little bit of defiance with hints of electro-pop, this product is a tribute to Nuria, producer Sam Phay and mix/master engineer Peter Holz (Gang of Youths, The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy, Delta Goodrem).

Nuria has proved her dedication to her craft over recent years and has received the recognition it deserves. Her singles “Juliette” and “Closer” were played on community radio stations including Radio Adelaide and 4ZZZ. “Juliette” was premiered on the female empowering music blog Women In Pop and was featured across Amnplify, BackBeat Podcast, Rawing In The Pit among others. “Closer” was featured on FBi and 2SER as well as receiving praise from Amnplify, Like Velvet Music, The Music Files and AuspOp. Her single ‘Touch’ was awarded number eight in the 2020 Australian Songwriting Association Awards and ‘Alive’ was added to the national ABC rotation, as well as being featured as the theme song on community radio station Alive 905 for the last two years.

‘Graffiti’, speaks to the questioner in the listener. It explores permanence and impermanence and how to navigate this world and consider what we might leave behind. As is classic of Nuria’s style it tackles the deep inner worlds, the monsters, and the lovers.

‘I am repeatedly drawn to these moments of questioning in our lives. The moments when we wonder who we are and what we’re doing. And while that first rose its head in my adolescence, it never really died. The song returns to the line ‘Oh my god, I keep fucking it up and I’m putting out fires in the middle of the night and I try so hard but I just can’t get it right’ and I feel like this continues to be a line that resurfaces throughout my life. The answers don’t necessarily clarify but I’ve also come to feel that there is a comradery in our fumbling existence.’
