Pioneering Australian electronic artist Nyxen releases her brand-new single “Pxnk” (pronounced: Punk), which is out now HERE via BMG/Tank Top Records. The synth packed single is the title track to her anticipated debut album “Pxnk” to be released on Friday, July 1 and available now for pre-order.

Nyxen shares the origin of the single which gave birth to the rest of the album making process by explaining, “The direction of the album all started with Pxnk, I had a name, a sound, and a vision for the body of work I wanted to put forward and it feels very fitting to guide the listener into the album the way I was guided into writing it. It feels amazing to officially announce the album release date and to put the title track “Pxnk” into the world”.

“Pxnk” follows the release of her recent dance-fused cut Nightmare in 2020 and guitar driven Tunnels in 2021, Nyxen now welcomes us further into her world with the title track further stating, “Playing around with my Prophet, I got into a groove with an arp sound, which eventually became the first six seconds of Pxnk as you hear it now. I immediately associated the sound with scores by John Carpenter, Daft Punk, Vangelis and Don Davis, visualising cyberpunk styled scenes is not uncommon for me (big sci-fi fan)”.

“Images of a smoke-filled 2080 drove the backbone of this instrumental and it was important for me to nail these scenes sonically in order for that to meaningfully translate to the listener. The song is littered with rave stabs, static broadcasts and low arpeggiated bass lines to pull you deeper into that high tech, low life world”.

“I asked Miranda Ward to collaborate with me writing the lyrics, mixed the song with my good friend Frank Xavier in his Sydney studio with Sameer Sengupta on mastering duties. Pxnk is a synth packed reflection of disconnection from things you once knew and the people that tether you back”.
