Today, Ocean Sleeper are thrilled to release their debut album, ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, an exhilarating and raw follow-up to the band’s latest and beloved singles, ‘Light In My Dark’ and ‘Killing Me’. Ocean Sleeper will kick off their national headline tour later this month in support of the release, including a sold out show in Melbourne.

‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ covers a deeply intimate breadth of subject material, and sees the band vocalizing a number of issues that they felt they were unable to fully divulge previously; from loss and anxiety, to the dark depths of addiction.

Building on the signature sound that has garnered the band critical acclaim and a loyal and ever-growing fan base, Ocean Sleeper have crafted an album that explores uncharted sonic territory, whilst never straying too far from their signature melodic hardcore chops.

From the softer, tender ‘Running Through My Head’, partially inspired by the guitar work of The 1975, to the fast-paced riffs and heaviness of ‘You’ll Never Know’, metalcore heroes Ocean Sleeper have blessed fans with their most daring and dynamic morsel of metal yet.

‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ was recorded in the USA by Kris Crummett (Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance, Alesana).

MORE ON OCEAN SLEEPER:

Metalcore upstarts Ocean Sleeper are no strangers to redefining convention. From humble beginnings in regional Victoria, to sold out shows across the country, sharing stages with the best in the heavy music and chart smashing singles. This unassuming outfit from Australia’s regional south east has seen a meteoric rise since the four friends decided they wanted to play in a band together one winter in 2016.

Six months on from their first shows in their hometowns, Unify 2017’s callout for a local band met an overwhelming response from the small army of fans Ocean Sleeper had gathered. Despite only having one song out at the time, the band quickly pulled together their debut EP Six Feet Down and dropped their debut moments before walking on their first festival stage. Needless to say it peaked at #1 on the Itunes Metal Chart and #11 overall, it then took 3 weeks to come down from it’s #1 position on the metal charts.

The swell from the EP’s success quickly follow into sold out shows, their first headliner for the EP launch at The Workers Club in Melbourne quickly sold out, shortly followed by a sold out Northcote Social Club launch for the leading single ‘Worthless No Purpose’.

The tour and support slots followed in droves from local and international acts such as Killswitch Engage, Stray From The Path and Counterparts. National tours alongside Dream On Dreamer, Void Of Vision and The Getaway Plan followed suit.

In early 2018 their next phase kicked in, pooling together what they could, the band settled into the legendary Portland studios under the watchful eye of Kris Crummet (Issues, Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens) to commence production on their debut LP.

The first taste of these sessions came in late 2018 with the lead single ‘Save Me’. Triple J’s Good Nights premiered the track, followed by steady spot plays as well as support from Short. Fast. Loud and Home & Hosed. Critically acclaimed from its release, the single turned into a tour of packed rooms across the country, culminating into some of the band’s biggest headline shows to date.

2019 saw a return invitation to Unify, putting the band on everyone’s lips as the standout act at the festival. Propelling the band to an international audience, Ocean Sleeper performed at Taiwan’s illustrious Heart-Town Heavy Music Festival on the mainstage before taking their show again to regional Victoria and NSW, back in the band’s heartland.

As 2019 draws to a close, Ocean Sleeper’s star is on the rise. With a debut album on the horizon and more exciting announcements to come, Ocean Sleeper are about to prove that despite what you’ve already seen, there is a whole lot more to come.
